A little bland and clinical, more for hardcore sci-fi fans
I struggled with this book, mainly for its mechanical nature and rather bland storyline. For hard-core fans of 2001: Space Odyssey, this may be more of an interest given it's the same writer, but for a sci-fi rookie, it was like reading an engineering manual as they clinically detail the climate and condition of this astral being named Rama. And not much else happens apart from them walking across this horizon. It may require reading the entire series of books to see the full picture, but as a stand-alone book, it doesn't seem to work.

Decent crime thriller
One of the films I missed as it didn't get a long release at the cinema in the UK. Naomie Harris plays a rookie cop in a rundown area of New Orleans. With corrupt cops and gangs working together in the supply of drugs. Soon she is hunted by both through the neighborhood after capturing a murder by the corrupt cops on her bodycam.
Overall it was an enjoyable watch, a little slow at the start and middle section. It had quite a low budget feel to it despite some big cast names. Worth a watch but far from the better films with a similar plotline. @21 Bridges (2019) is one example that had more action.

A bit of a mindscrew
I wasn't sure what to expect with this slightly low budget horror, but it is surprising on a few fronts. For one, it's a psychological horror and really messes with your mind watching it.

The story, although lacking, consists of a rookie police officer Juliana Harkavy (Walking Dead) starting her first shift at an empty police station with a horrific back story. A murderous cult leader and his two followers are said to have killed themselves inside the premises, leading to some disturbing occurrences. Will she or will she not make it?

The second surprising front was the fact it becomes increasingly claustrophobic watching it. The third is the ending. For an hour and a half film, it's not a bad watch.

We Named The Dog Indiana
The Call of The Wild- The movie has intresting CGI, which mean all of animals and the adventure is CGI and you can tell. Some of CGI is good, the other CGI is bad. But it is Harrison Ford with a dog so thats cool. Just wish the dog was named Indiana. Would of made this movie better, but Buck is cool.

The plot: Buck is a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life gets turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon in the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail-delivery dog sled team, Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime as he ultimately finds his true place in the world.

A unique adventure about a dog adventure and journey. Its fun, entertaining and overall a good adventure.

Safe House- is a decent action thriller with a great supporting cast. Denzel charcter's always have cool names.

The plot: For the past year, rookie CIA agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) has been eager to prove himself while cooling his heels at an inactive South African post. He gets the chance when Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), a turncoat operative, is brought to Weston's safe house for debriefing. But soon after Frost's arrival, mercenaries attack, and Weston and Frost barely escape with their lives. The two men must join forces and try to stay alive long enough to figure out who wants them dead.

Like i said before its a decent to good action thriller with a great supporting cast.

Black and Blue (2019)

Black and Blue focuses on a rookie police officer returning to New Orleans after leaving in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She is abruptly faced with the realization that corruption not only exists within her hometown police department, but it may be far more extensive than could be imagined. She also has to cope with the knowledge that a HUGE wedge has been driven between the PD and the local community and the fracture that exists may be too large to mend.

Naomi Watts is wonderful and convincing in the lead role with several supporting cast members rounding things out perfectly. Tyrese Gibson shows a depth generally not seen in most cases as a sort of liaison simply trying to keep peace but quickly finding himself embroiled in the middle of it all.

At times predictable, at times redeeming. Worth giving a go if you have the time.

Mike Chandler (Cage) is a life-long veteran police officer ready to finally enjoy his retirement and a well-deserved pension. With his partner and son-in-law, rookie Steve at his side, and Kenny, a 15-year-old court-appointed ride-along (that he certainly won’t forget) reluctantly in tow, they set out on a routine patrol of the city’s streets, only to come up against an explosive situation.

OK, so the first thing you have to remember with this new action movie with Nicolas Cage is it’s a DTV (Direct To Video) movie, so don’t be expecting the big-budget production of the Hollywood movies, the movie is a bit of a slow starter and it’s not really until you get to around the first 30 minutes or so that things really start to happen.

Cars (2006)
Cars (2006)

The technical wizards at Pixar are back with a new feature film which continues their domination of the animated film genre.

With the huge success of their films The Incredibles as well as Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc. and the Toy Story films, it would be easy to think that the studio might be at a creative crossroads. When recent news around the industry involved the end of their deal with Disney and subsequent new deal with the company after a period of free agency as well as delays on their new project, some began to wonder what audiences would see if their next outing.

Thankfully Cars continues the amazing run of success for the studio and sets the bar even higher for animated films to follow.

The film follows the exploits of rookie racing car Lightning MC Queen (Owen Wilson), who is the hotshot rookie attempting to be the first rookie in history to win the Piston Cup title.

As Lightening dreams of winning the prize and in doing so, a hefty sponsorship with the big oil company, he decides to ignore the advice of his crew which causes him to end up in a three way tie for the title.

In order to resolve the tie a special race is to be held a week later in California between the three winners. En route, Lightning ignores the advice of his driver Mack (John Ratzenberger), and in a series of mishaps ends up alone in the desolate
town of Radiator Springs. As if this was not enough trouble for Lightning, he is forced by the local judge Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), to perform community service to complete the damage he caused to the road upon his arrival.

Faced with the prospect of losing time needed to get to and prepare for the race, the selfish Lightning does his best to alienate the local townsfolk including the local tow truck Tom Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), who like all the locals do their best to befriend him.

Along the way, Lightning learns the values of friendship, teamwork and community as he attempts to find the true meaning of the term “Winner”.

Graphically the film is amazing as the amount of CGI rendering that went into the film is said to be so extensive, it literally taxed the computers at Pixar to their limits. That is clear as the detail level and complexity of the film is staggering. You fully believe that this world populated entirely by machines exists.

There is a lot of humor in the film as well and more than enough nods that will appeal to older viewers yet may be over the heads of younger viewers.

If I had to find fault in the film, it would be that with a running time of slightly over two hours, it does tend to drag in a few places. My nephew and his friend became restless about 50 minutes into the film which made me think that the running time may be to long for some younger children to sit through and that the film might have been better served by trimming about 30 minutes as there were segments that while visually appealing, did not really need to be there.

That being said, Cars is a true delight and proof that once again, Pixar is the undisputed champion of animated films.

Inside Your Head
Ricochet- oh my god this movie is good. John Lithgow as the villian. He is excellent, wicked, twisted and makes Denzel charcter go insane and crazy. John Lithgow is such a excellent actor and i love when he plays as the villian.

The plot: After tracking down and arresting Earl Talbot Blake (John Lithgow), a psychotic hit man, rookie Los Angeles police officer Nick Styles (Denzel Washington) is hailed as a hero. Several years later, Styles' life appears perfect: He has married his girlfriend, started a family and risen to the position of assistant district attorney. However, his world is turned upside down when Blake escapes from prison with plans to exact brutal and well-calculated revenge.

If you haven't heard or seen this movie than I would highly reccordmend it. Well packed action, suspense and drama.
