I'm not a Trekkie fan by any means but I have to say I'm suprised so many rate this so highly? I found it rather slow and boring and void of any real action whatsoever. The borg can just be walked past half the time, hardly an intimidating or a fearsome enemy. The latest Star Trek film going back to how the original crew got together is the best by far.

The hardcover debut wasn't quite up to par. Madeline and crew are catering the wrap party for the new foodie TV game show that is all the rage. It just didn't mesh quite as well as the others for me. Still, an enjoyable enough book but could have been better.

Darien Frey may have let his crew into a bit of trouble when going for an ancient relic. Now Frey is cursed and his only hope is his crew: a former slave, a half-mane who battles with her deamon side, a deamonist running from his past, an over cocky pilot, a drunk surgeon, and a fraidy-cat pilot that jumps at shadows. This captain is good at getting into trouble and better at ousting dangerous secrets.
I love the chapters in this book they have a small summery usually with three to four small descriptions and it's not always what you think.

Watch 1931's Dracula starring Bela Lugosi. Then the 1931 Spanish version of Dracula. The American version filmed during the day and the Spanish cast and crew used the exact same sets to film at the exact time, only at night, instead. It's quite a study in film to compare the two. From the cinematography, to the lighting, the sounds, costumes, acting, and more. The Spanish version is very sensual and passionate while the American one is, well, bloodless, but still good.

"The most beautiful film ever made, and the one that taught me that sci-fi doesn’t need spaceships and robots. Some of the crew attributed the deaths of Tarkovsky and quite a few others involved with the film to its brutally toxic locations, but visually the result is as good as cinema can get. Eduard Artemyev’s score merges so well with the sound design that I would happily listen to all three hours of the audio on repeat. —WY"
