"A fantastic film by Dennis Hopper. A great portrait of punk-rock youth culture in the early eighties, in which, here again, you’re hypnotized by the performance and voice of Linda Manz."

Rolling Stone's 34th greatest album of all time
Decent 70s rock album from Dylan's backing band, notably mainly for the smash hits "The Weight" and "This Wheel's on Fire" (subsequently used as the theme to Absolutely Fabulous).

Rolling Stone's 216th greatest album of all time (455th in the 2020 list)
Very influential early rock and roll album. Very interesting how he brought Afro-Caribbean influences in the rhythm of a lot of the songs.

"I had the chance to see Pennebaker give a talk before a screening of Monterey Pop. The audience got incredibly rowdy during his discussion of his short film Daybreak Express and interrupted Pennebaker’s remarks, chanting “Let’s rock!” Pennebaker gave up and rolled the film. Really lousy, but fitting. Watching Pennebaker and the Maysles’ incredible documentaries in tandem give me those same raw and complex feelings about rock ‘n’ roll as an art and a primal force."

Superb live recording of an incredible band. The instrumentation, background atmosphere and vocals all captured wonderfully, and including some of the best 80s rock songs.

Rolling Stone's 223rd greatest album of all time
I really don't like U2. But I have come to realise it is the 2000s version of U2 I don't like, when they became self-righteous hypocritical parodies of a rock band.
This is a decent rock album, enough to keep the listener engaged between the bigger songs.
Disclosure: I realised listening to this I have never heard the full version of Sunday Bloody Sunday, only the chorus, and Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine's cover. I didn't recognise it for quite a while.

"This one is kind of a rare bird - it’s one that I think rock lovers from the ‘70s and ‘80s will know. It was my Dad’s favourite song and it was his karaoke song. I think I have a video somewhere of him wailing it in a car when I was growing up. He could hit all the notes and I was always in awe of him. My Dad had such a beautiful voice and a big range, and he still does to this day. We’d sing along to it and all do air guitar to the crazy guitar solos. “It brings back childhood memories, but it’s also just a badass rock ‘n’ roll song, and it was my introduction to rock music. I love southern rock and it definitely has an influence on the music I make with DNCE now."
