TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated The Cowboy's Holiday Bride: A Clean Romance in Books
Feb 24, 2021
Can you say The Cowboys Holiday Bride three times fast? Well, I tried and failed. But I so enjoyed this rendition of A Christmas Carol themed story! Cathy McDavid has always been a favorite author from the Harlequin publishers as she has consistently good and relaxing stories.
This book was sweet, a little sassy, and made me smile. I so enjoyed getting to read and learn about Cash and Phoebe. I thought that their story was well laid out, had good character arcs, and I loved (have I said I loved the interesting take on A Christmas Carol?) Cathy McDavid’s unique and fun take on this classic story. It was just what I needed in the midst of this season. I recommend it to anyone wanting a feelgood story that will make you warm and fuzzy inside.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the well-done plot, the fun characters, and for making me smile & relax.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated Goodness Gracious Golly Gee: I Forgot My Christmas Tree in Books
Apr 29, 2022
Are you looking for a sweet rhyming story for your child or children? “Goodness Gracious Golly Gee: I Forgot My Christmas Tree” will be a good reminder. We do not always need presents and decorations to celebrate the holiday.
The way this book is done is quite cute. I enjoy the poem feel in this book; it is not complicated to read. The pictures did well. Children will enjoy this book and want you to read it repeatedly around the holiday season.
Their Goodness Gracious Golly Gee is hilarious and enjoyable throughout the book. Children will be laughing and enjoying saying these words Goodness Gracious Golly Gee, ever so often. Children can learn to read with this book with the help of a parent.
This book teaches us what is essential in life and that Santa will not be upset or mad because we do not have a tree or decorations or presidents. If you enjoy the love and kindness and are happy, Santa will be just as happy. The real meaning of Christmas lives shown through this whimsical story.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Elf (2003) in Movies

This film is definitely the best modern Christmas movies that's been released. It still holds up after 15 years (and now I feel old). I re-watched this with my parents, who, had surprisingly, never seen it before? I loved that the costumes from the original stop-motion Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer were used. It'd definitely innocent, family fun that's still enjoyable to watch as an adult.

I read the second installment to this series a lot faster than I read the first one. Although there seemed to be less happening in this book, it was nice to see the character development, and to meet entirely new characters.
I still love the relationship between Ethan and Lena, and cant wait to see what happens in the third book. Hopefully I can add it to my christmas wishlist.

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated A Snow Garden and Other Stories in Books

In this collection, Rachel Joyce connects seven short stories that span from just before Christmas Eve through New Year's Eve. What is most interesting is that Joyce not only arranges these tales chronologically, she also links them with other elements. You can read my review of this book (that I'm giving 4.5 stars out of 5) here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2017/04/15/the-eves-of-winter-stories/

Not just for young adults
My daughter bought this book on a whim, so whilst she was finishing up reading another book, I decided to read this, and I’m so glad that I did!
The story is well written, and you can feel the emotions coming from Juliette like you are in the room with her. I’ve already ordered the rest of the books, 6 in the set now, for Christmas!

The Christmas Cookie of Doom
Bayport, Maryland, is kicking off the holiday season with a Victorian themed Christmas event. While Val’s granddad is upset about being demoted from Santa to Scrooge this year, Val is looking forward to helping out at the teas throughout the afternoon. The final tea of the day is for the event’s volunteers. As it is getting started, someone in a weird costume comes and starts passing out gingerbread cookies. When this year’s Santa eats his, he drops over. Can Val figure out what is going on?
I really do appreciate the relationship between Val and her granddad in these books. While Granddad is a senior citizen, he isn’t a stereotype. He acts appropriately for his age and yet still contributes to Val’s investigation. The other characters are strong enough to keep us engaged in the story and keep the suspects straight. The story seemed to wander a bit at the beginning, but I was ultimately impressed with how everything came together. Naturally, we get more five-ingredient recipes at the end of the book, including several seasonal delights. If you are looking for a cozy to curl up with this Christmas, this is one you’ll enjoy.
