Jenny Houle (24 KP) rated Conclave in Books

I have never experienced a thriller that didn't contain violence and yet...Harris does an amazing job at keeping you wondering if someone has committed the ultimate sin to get what they want. The twists and turns throughout the book kept it interesting, and the attention to detail kept it "educational" for lack of a better word. I had no concept of what goes into a conclave ahead of time and found those details to be interesting enough that one does not get bored by them.

Realistic not Hollywood style thriller
Luke Smitherd has done another great job in bringing to life characters facing inexplicable terror. Chris, the protagonist, is both humorous and human - making misguided choices based on the little experiences that he had. The man in white is a brilliant villain, odious through his fake good humour and his macabre outlook of life. I really wish we could've found out how and why the man in white chose his victims and not just just how he picked his pawns. Would recommend!

A very surreal film
I didn't bother reading any reviews before I watched this Sky Original film. I was impressed by the cast line up and like a noir, mystery film. At least that's what you think you are going to see. It's one of just a handful of films with a surreal twist that will make most people think "are you serious?". Should have just stuck to a normal thriller plot. At least the scenery is nice to look at.
Joe, should you love him or should you fear him? That is what Beck has to decide in this awesome thriller. Who know a trip into a local bookstore would change both of their lives forever? She is a writer, he is a book lover, what could go wrong? A lot! This book has a lot of twists and turns and you won't know who you love, who you fear, who you hate, or what you feel in general. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this.

Oooo.. a thriller with some romance.. this was amazing and so much fun to read. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. It kept me interested and I had to keep going because I had to know what happened. The writing is very interesting and I enjoyed this book very much. There were so many twists and turns that every page was somethign totally different and new and kept you on the edge of your seat. I am so glad I got to review this one.

The trailer looked great. And I know it's a thriller so it is meant to keep viewers on the edge of their seat but the guys sat next to me voiced out loud what I was thinking: "if he does't kill her soon, I'm leaving."
There's a lot of moments where you think something is going to happen, and then it doesn't. Too many of these moments.
The acting was good but it was a slow build to an alright ending.

Gripping remake lets it's Scandi roots show.

A truly excellent thriller, this U.S. remake of a Norwegian film retains the feel of it's Scandinavian genesis.
Tense, twitchy and enthralling with fantastic performances, potent settings, and a great script and direction.
Pacino plays an L.A. cop hiding from his own guilt while investigating the death of a girl in Alaska.
Robin Williams is chillingly convincing as the manipulative bad man, proving yet again that he was a masterful actor as well as a gifted comedian.

Mike Wingate grew up in foster care, not even knowing his real last name. But as an adult he's going to need to figure out his past quickly because someone is out to kill him for it. What secret does his family hold? I felt this thriller was pretty slow getting going, but once it did, it was another roller coaster ride of action.
