The Godfather: Part II (1974)

"I’d say Godfather 2 was up there. (And I did a movie for Francis…) After Godfather 1, I wouldn’t know how he would make a Godfather 2, but he did it. Because of the time span and what it covered, it’s an opera. I mean, there are acts, and it just worked, and I hadn’t seen that done really well. I’ll go see a movie because of moments, and I’ll go to see that movie again. I mean, like The Killing, the movie that Kubrick made when he began. Sterling Hayden is in it, where they robbed the racetrack, you know? And Sterling Hayden is in the locker room getting ready, putting the mask on, and realizing they’re not flowers in the box but a machine gun. It’s just before kick-off and he takes a long deep breath, and Stanley Kubrick was there for him."

"I think Hanin [Elias] from the band was a Bikini Kill fan so she sent it to me. They mixed punk rock with electronic music and it was the first time I'd heard that done. So definitely that inspired Le Tigre, and I was listening to it while I was making the solo Julie Ruin record, in 1997. It inspired me to get into electronic music because I was like, "Oh, if I want to do something different and if my band's not practising, I can make electronic music." They gave me the idea to learn how to programme a drum machine and use a sampler. It's just really like the world is opening up for you. Their music had a huge effect on the direction my career was going in, that I could mix electronic music with punk rock, that electronic music could be punk."

Great romance movie
Movie is about strong first love between two teenagers. Not your cup of tea? Don't watch it just to cry how bad it is, because it is actually good. In this movie, Bella, who seems to be an introvert, moves to a new school. She is supposed to feel and act awkward because everything is new to her, and Kristen did an amazing job. Edwards being abusive as some people complain, well...a person who feels strong emotions for another and at the same time wants to protect that person from himself, no one would be rational at that point. Remember when you were madly in love, how did you act? Add to that the fact that Edward is a vampire, a killing machine. Great movie about true love of two teenagers and how they overcome problems and their differences.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)
1988 | Horror
For me, ANOES 4-6 have always been a big step down to the pretty solid original trilogy. The Dream Master is of course the first of these three entries, and it's marred by sloppy writing, forced character development, and Freddy turning into a full blown one-liner machine, an aspect of the series that I know a lot of people love, but personally, I prefer Krueger when he's being a terrifying bastard.
It's not all bad though. The practical effects on show are pretty damn great, the kill sequences are imaginative, and I enjoy the commited narrative connections to Dream Warriors.
A far cry from the best in the series, but also, nowhere near the worst.

Side note, the bit where the dude sits up in his coffin and shouts "Helloooo Baaabbeehhh!" is dumb, but low key hilarious and I enjoy it every time.
