Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated Making A Murderer - Season 1 in TV

Now a bit outdated after recent changes to Brendan Dassey's conviction
Incredible series, extremely well produced
While it is apparent there are documents left out of this series, it has been masterfully put together by the documentary's director. A true crime series following convicted criminal Steven Avery and possible misconduct and corruption claims against the federal government, it is absolutely gripping from start to finish. Definitely recommended.

quite predictable
A good super hero movie, but not too gripping
I love DC, which unfortunately makes this movie a difficult one to watch. It was a nice movie, but did not give the character any real justice. The story is not well formed, and sort of seem like it was just thrown together. Overall it is a fun movie to watch, but probably best to have it as a movie in the background to enjoy it.

Auburn (57 KP) rated Kiss of the Royal in Books

The kiss of a princess can be a powerful tool against the forces of evil. A magic that I have never read about is weaved into this book and I could not be more impressed.
Think romance of enemies to lovers but more subtle than that. A princess who will do anything to win and a prince who doesn't want her help. Together they will argue their way to victory. You will laugh, roll your eyes, and ultimately fall for these two unlikely allies.

Auburn (57 KP) rated The Merciful Crow (The Merciful Crow, #1) in Books

I don't know if 5 stars is enough for this. Maybe 10?
Representation and a caste system that is broken. Crows are at the bottom but without them the world would die of disease.
Characters are represented subtlety and you almost miss it. It is woven so seamlessly into the plot.
The Princess Bride meets Six of Crows and together they burn the world down.
If you enjoy the As You Wish of Princess Bride than this needs to be on the top of your list.

Auburn (57 KP) rated Ruthless Magic (Conspiracy of Magic, #1) in Books
Apr 10, 2019
The Hunger Games meets Harry Potter in this glorious book about what someone would do to save themselves and others. Multiple POV make it a unique story delving deeper into each person's personal story as well as together.
I thoroughly enjoyed the magic and they way it had to be sung. The fact that society knows about magic and those who are legacies have a shoe in to keep their magic was realistic. I just want to see this world come alive on a big screen!

Excellent
This was an awesome telling of a piece of American history. The acting and cinematography were beautifully done. Costner and Harrelson worked great together in this tale of the men who finally took down Bonnie and Clyde after their crime spree in the early 1930s. The story moved at an excellent pace leading up to the climactic finish of the criminal duo. I highly recommend this crime drama to anyone who really enjoys a good tale of criminal justice in action. Worth a watch!

How to do low-budget horror the right way
Adding this movie to Smashbomb for the first time, the following is the quick synopsis from IMDB.com.
Trapped in an isolated gas station by a voracious Splinter parasite that transforms its still-living victims into deadly hosts, a young couple and an escaped convict must find a way to work together to survive this primal terror.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Fighting (2009) in Movies
Apr 30, 2019
An ok fighting film about the underdog on the rise. It's a well made and put together film with some good actors. However I have to say it hasn't got very good fight choreography!! Most of the fights are random brawls, cage fight style mixed disciplines....and don't last that long. There isn't a lot of build up to the fights either in terms of tension or training. Overall an ok watch but I thought Never back down was a similar plot film done much better.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Third Base (The Boys of Summer, #1) in Books

This is the first book in this series and what a start it is. This is a sweet story with added mystery to help move the story flow along nicely. I just couldn't put this book down till I'd got to the last page, then I was left wanting more. The characters are fantastic and have very hot chemistry together. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
