EmersonRose (320 KP) rated The Remains of the Day in Books

This is the second book I have read by this author, and I am in love with the writing style. The story is a simple tale of thinking back on life, fitting together the pieces of how you got to where you are in life, but the themes touch upon harsh truths and hit my emotions hard! Ishiguro has an amazing talent for creating a world that feels real with a tinge of the dreamlike. His consistent theme of memory is played out beautiful from story to story. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it.

Tier and Seraph are older and have grown/growing children. When Tier disappears and the worst is assumed it is up to her and her sons to hold the family together and discover the truth behind Tier's disappearance. And in the process finding a much greater danger.
An amazing book, I love the relationship between Tier and Seraph. I enjoyed that it was a group effort to deal with the threats that not only effect their family but maybe even the rest of the empire.
Once you finish you'll be reaching for the next book.

Basic!
This is a story of a young girl struggling to adjust to her new life, new school, new family, out if the blue the two step sisters are made to spend the day together where they don't stick to the plan and go off for a small adventure with some friends but end up scuba diving where things go from bad to worse, a few jumpy bits I didn't expect. The story line it's self was really good I did however think the sharks didn't look all that real, on the whole it was a good watch.

Often compared to Saving Private Ryan for its gritty and unforgiving story of brotherhood and loss.
This time we are shown what it's like to fight from the confines of a dark and cramped tank, and we are shown how each man has to work not only very closely with each other but as one fighting tool.
Brad Pit is quite the actor and is the father figure here and the glue that binds his men together.
One to watch if you love war movies although at times it does feel like an anti war war movie.

Veronica Pena (690 KP) rated Step Brothers (2008) in Movies

I've seen this film I don't know how many times and I don't think I'll ever get over it. John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell together are gold and I don't care what anyone says! I also recently listened to a podcast that had Adam Scott on and he talked about his experience on Step Brothers and it made me want to watch the film all over again to notice the things he was talking about!
I think this might be my favorite Reilly-Ferrell film - this or Talladega Nights. It's super funny and enjoyable. Definitely recommend.

I thought this film was fine. It had its moments of funny. It was a little predictable, but I feel like with these movies it always is. I do think that Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are good together. I found Dusty to be annoying, but I guess that was kind of the point. I am going to watch the second one because I want to know what happens - whatever that's worth.
I didn't like that they kept implying Brad was racist. I just don't find those jokes funny and I'm surprised they tried to land so many.
