Dean (6926 KP) rated Geostorm (2017) in Movies
Aug 16, 2019
Poor plot (1 more)
Some dodgy CGI
A large helping of cheese
Well I finally gave this a whirl not expecting much. It seems like a CGI led disaster film in The day after tomorrow mould. To combat climate change the world has come together to build a network of satellites to control the weather. It predictably starts to go wrong, cue scenes of mass distruction around the globe and needs to be fixed.
The cast was quite impressive and the SFX overall were good. It suffers badly from the weak plot and characters though. Ok for a watch but not a patch on The day after tomorrow, Deep impact and many others.

The Grudge's Ring
If you liked the ring remake, than you will like this movie. Its good, its scary, haunted and creepy.
The Plot: Matthew Williams (William Mapother), his wife, Jennifer (Clea DuVall), and mother, Emma (Grace Zabriskie), are Americans making a new life in Tokyo. Together they move into a house that has been the site of supernatural occurrences in the past, and it isn't long before their new home begins terrorizing the Williams family as well. The house, as it turns out, is the site of a curse that lingers in a specific place and claims the lives of anyone that comes near.
Like i said, its scary, creepy and haunted.

Ensnared Me
I just finished reading Uncharted and I will start by saying that the author truly has a way of storytelling that ensnared me right from the start. The mystery, legends and the action were extraordinarily well put together and I simply couldn't get enough of it. This well-written book is for anyone who loves Celtic lore and strong characters!
Annabeth quickly became a female I could and would admire and Griffin who exudes raw masculinity had a side to him that just had me wanting to cuddle up right beside him.
This is the first book I've read written by this author and I will definitely continue to read her work.

Dont Have Sex
It Follows- is a very underrated film, that not of people have seen.
The plot: After carefree teenager Jay (Maika Monroe) sleeps with her new boyfriend, Hugh (Jake Weary), for the first time, she learns that she is the latest recipient of a fatal curse that is passed from victim to victim via sexual intercourse. Death, Jay learns, will creep inexorably toward her as either a friend or a stranger. Jay's friends don't believe her seemingly paranoid ravings, until they too begin to see the phantom assassins and band together to help her flee or defend herself.
Its scary, terrorfying, spooky, horroryfying, myserious, thrilling and more.
A highly reccordmend film.

My friend pushed me for months to watch this series! and by god was she right! It really brings the original series into the future.... the story of Sabrina and her family and friends, but in a way and world we can relate to now.... I'm still hung up over the season 1 cliff hanger and am on the edge of my seat to see what our little Brina does next.... like does she atually hang with the people who tormented her from the start? and does she ever get back together with Harvey?
again, I aim to remind everyone that these are MY opinions, which i am entitled to, you do no have to agree...

Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated In West Mills in Books

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and held it. The things that brought the rating down for me were the transitions between years toward the end of the book. It wasn't until you were a few pages into the chapter that you knew it was 5 or 10 years later.
Knot is the kind of woman who does what she wants no matter what other people think about it. This story takes us from 1942 all the way through 1987. Telling the story and secrets of West Mills. Each character has a different story that all melds together in one incredible telling. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to other books by this author.

Andrew Koltuniuk (762 KP) rated Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) in Movies
Dec 12, 2019
This movie.... Was.... *sigh* such a letdown. I wanted to like this movie so much. Iron Ma-- I mean, Spider-man was pretty good in this film. But it felt like a teenage romcom/road-trip movie and a superhero movie thrown together. It was like eating my favorite appetizer dipped in ice-cream.... Yuck. I thought that Jake Gyllenhaal's performance was probably the best. And as a villain he was one that we had seen at least four times before. Also, this is the second Spider-Man movie in a row where we didn't get a Spider-Man villain, we got an Iron Man villain who takes it out on Peter. Boo.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!!!!!
I finally got the chance to watch this movie and oh boy it was excellent, the chemistry between Bale and Damon is phenomenal, the plot is fantastic, the racing is like your actaully their. James Mangold did a perfect job directing this movie.
The Plot: American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and fearless British race car driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
A must watch film, if you havent seen it yet.

After reading Defy and Vicious by L.J. Shen, I knew I had to keep going. Especially after falling in love with Dean in Vicious's book. He was beautifully broken, in my opinion. Reading this book, I knew my heart was in for it with him. He was a cocky, sexy man who knew what...or rather who he wanted, and that was Rosie. Seeing them together, seeing his passion for her, despite her health issues, really hooked me! I couldn't get enough of their story! By the end of the book.....well, let's just say that I am ready to dive into Scandalous next because I NEED MORE SINNERS!!! Another wonderfully done novel by a truly talented author.
AT (1676 KP) rated Playmobil: The Movie (2019) in Movies
Mar 6, 2020
I don't think this movie was as terrible as most of the reviews said it was. It's a kids' movie, about a sibling relationship, and basically, playing with a lot of the Playmobil sets together, as kids do. It was corny and dorky at times, but that's what made it fun. The "acting" was over the top at times, but it was how kids play with the characters. It definitely was silly, but I don't think it was awful. I laughed quite a bit. You just have to accept the play world of children when you watch it. It wasn't the best movie that I've seen, but it was still fun to watch.
