Unrealized Potential
There's a part early on the circle where the main character, Mae, is interviewing for a job at the titular company. The interviewer asks her what her biggest fear is. "Unrealized potential," she responds. That's pretty much my review of the movie. There's so much that could have been done with the great core concept of the Circle, but the potential was lost in poor writing and direction. The movie doesn't take the concept of questioning the benefit of privacy or lack thereof anywhere significant, and lots of screen time is spent on side tangents that also go nowhere. The Circle is perhaps most exciting in the final scene, when Mae pulls back the curtain on the antagonists, but it all comes to a screeching halt with no resolution. Couple that with Emma Watson's worst performance to date (she CAN NOT muster an American accent to save her life), and the Circle becomes a forgettable and not-so-thrilling thriller that not even Tom Hanks can salvage.

Story of how Walt Disney got Mary poppins made. It not on that story but goes into why travers didn't want the book made into a movie and why she was so protective over the Mary poppins character. This story not only goes into the making of the classic movie but into travers childhood. Not what I expected but very well made . Also Tom hanks was amazing as Walt Disney at times I literally thought it was Walt on screen

Such a multi-talented man
Tom Hanks is probably my favourite actor. I don't think he's ever been in a film that I haven't liked. So for me this book of short stories was a bit of a worry as id hate for it not to be as good as his acting.

Fortunately however, these stories prove that Hanks can write as well as he can act. The stories are very short, but detailed and witty and for the most part very interesting. Not a lot tends to happen in these stories, they seem to be more of a "day in the life of" but this isn't a bad thing because they're so well written that you still find the stories to be very entertaining. The only parts of this book I didn't like were the short columns from Hank Fiset, which to me seemed a little out of place and not as well written as the rest of the books.

This really proves Hanks is a good author and I'd love for him to write a full novel. Something like the story about regression would make a great novel.

Without ruining it, the finish could have been alot better
The attempt at comedy
Could have been alot better
Maybe this would have been alot better without Emma watson, we will never find out. But in my opinion, it says alot when karen Gillan was by far the better actress and sadly had half the screen time compared with Watson.
As per normal, Hanks was brilliant in his role and what made it even better was you get to see his darker side.
Overall, as a thriller, theres a crushing lack of suspense.
The idea was brilliant, the film was not. I had high hopes when watching but ended somewhat disappointed.

Gripping
Sully was more than I expected. It superceded normal disaster movie/plane crash territory and took a narrative built on the personal story of Sully, the Captain of the plane.

This film viewed the crash from various perspectives and as a viewer you build an understanding of what happened and why. The experience of Sully himself and the first officer as their decision making and performance was investigated was rather brutal and made fascinating watching.

Tom Hanks played a believable character, controlled on the outside, doubting on the inside. Great performance.
