I wonder if the person that wrote the blurb for this book actually read it? Because the blurb sounds great, whilst the book is NOT.

Great concept, poorly executed. It was sheer torture to read, and I wish I hadn’t persevered.

I hate when the blurb doesn't match the book!

@Kristy H I don't see this very often, but I have found recently that this seems to be happening with a few books. It's like the blurb writer is working off the picture on the cover 🤦🏼‍♀️

In the second book, Bobby has the wonderful idea of jailbreaking his demonic girlfriend out of Hell trying to free her from the grasp of Grand Duke Eligor's grasp.
This book never fails to make me cry--and not for the reasons you think. There is plenty of torture, trauma, even rape--he is going to actual Hell after all-- which makes the interludes on why he is doing what he's doing refreshing even if they make me blush.
I admit my imagination fails me after a while with this book and while he does cheat on some of the torture it is still quite graphic, having both sex scenes (also in the non rape variety) and torture scenes. It is actually how Bobby himself slowly changes that is the most chilling as he adjusts to slowly losing himself in his new environment.
This book will make you think and may even challenge some of your views.

Minimal cheap gore
The only good one. After this, the torture porn genre began with the cheap gore and poor writing. I watched Saw when it was first released not knowing any of the twists and was pleasantly surprised upon its conclusion.

"I was watching a geezer on Charlie Rose last night. John something, lectures in universities on war, uprisings, terrorism, torture, how governments become the terrorists, the pendulum of life and death. John something still uses this film to explain all before they discuss waterboarding. This film is the guv’ner."

"Without mercy, a man is not a human being." Mizoguchi's most devastating film (arguably) is unrivaled among the great epic tragedies. Has anyone ever composed more exquisite frames for the Academy ratio (described by Mizoguchi as "the painterly ratio")? And my God, that ending! "Isn't life a torture?"

The fact it took until this season for Luke and Lorelai is infuriating. Rory is slowly becoming someone unrecognisable and unlikable.

Order of the Phoenix is always an interesting read for me. I absolutely despise Umbridge and the torture that she puts Harry through always makes me feel bad for him. It always makes me despise her even more. So I love and hate this book because I oftentimes don't like hearing about what Umbridge has done.

Old Movie Revisited: Sushi Girl. Did you ever want to see Luke Skywalker torture Atreyu from Neverending Story? Me either, but if you did, you can see it here. Not only do we have Luke and Atreyu, we get Candyman, Frank from Donnie Darko, and some extremely brief cameos from Kyle Reese, Machete, Frank Lapidus from Lost, the original Streetfighter himself, and White Power Bill. Of course you have to spend a preternatural amount of time in front of the TV to know some of these people, but hey, youre loss... So this is a Quentin Tarantinoesque type gangster flick that revolves around a botched diamond heist and the torture of Atreyu, after he gets out of a six year stint in the joint. And of course a Sushi Girl who is covered with? Anyone? Anyone? Thats right sushi... Yes, Stephanie Golden, she is naked and has a pretty decent rack :) Mark Hamill, er, Luke, does a pretty awesome job doing a 30's type gangster drawl, and seems to enjoy torturing Atreyu (where the hell has that guy been?) So that being said, and you like Tarantinoesques films, and don't mind a little bloody torture fun, check it out, its a pretty decent ride, like your momma! Filmbufftim on FB
