Elizabeth (1521 KP) rated The Joy Luck Club in Books
Apr 24, 2019
I've always loved the movie and have been curious to read the book. It was MUCH shorter than I had expected but the movie stayed true to the story and it was easy to recall the visuals for each scene. However, the book didn't seem as engaging or captivating as the movie and I didn't really get a sense of the characters.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2570 KP) rated The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney in Books
Mar 9, 2018
I found this to be an interesting and balance biography of Walt Disney. The author played media critic a bit too much, which bothered me, but in the end I walked away with a clearer picture of a true American success story.

Erika (17789 KP) rated 12 Years a Slave (2013) in Movies
Nov 17, 2018
This is one of those films that you only really need to watch once, and never have to watch again (like Schindler's List). It's brutal, and based upon a true story, which makes it even more powerful. Great direction from Steve McQueen, and killer cast. I'm a huge Michael Fassbender fan, and he killed it in his creepy role.
Lalaceri (1 KP) rated Conversations With A Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes in TV
Jan 29, 2019
Pretty good.
I've always been interested in these kind of documentarys and the chilling fact that they are true. I enjoyed this one also and the way they told the story was great, but I found there was something lacking and I drifted away a few times. There was too much hype leading up to it and it disappointed because of that.

Reagan Elizabeth Grainger (288 KP) rated Des in TV
Sep 25, 2020
Very true to facts
This programme is well researched and really highlights some of the issues with Des' story and need for control. It also touches on his ability to manipulate people including his biographer.
Very good acting from David Tennant to not over play Des but to keep him as he was plain at best and desperate for control.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Frozen Heat (Nikki Heat, #4) in Books

3.5 stars.
It took me a while to get into this but when i did i got through it fairly quickly. I have to say that this feels a little unfinished. We never got the true bad guy so I'm assuming the story will be continuing in later books.
I'm going to leave it a while between this book and the next.
