Utopia based on hard facts
This literally does what it sets out - it explains in detail how a utopian society can be achieved using hard examples from the past as well social studies. It is however from a very liberal point of view, so the construct is based on creating an ideal society within a capitalist framework. And while many will argue that it would be better to do away completely with capitalism, Rutger Bregman has some really good insights into how it can be achieved including wages for everyone, free housing and shorter working weeks. It's extremely positive given how the world is going, almost feelgood.

If you love Riverdale, The Originals, and Sawkill Girls than this book is up your alley. You will jump in and devour it (get it). The story centers around around protecting the city but instead of a full utopia it is more of a oppressive terror town.
While I loved the story and the characters it was a bit too scary for me. The author did such an amazing job describing the horror in the book that you can clearly see it in your mind. For me that scared me enough that I loved the book but I wouldn't reread. If your love that type of thing then this is for you!

Thank you for letting me read an early copy on Netgalley
