"I read this every winter. It has one of the best female protagonists I've ever read in a book. There are very few books I can think of that start out so small and unassuming and end so big and heroic. The lead character goes from being an inquisitive, quiet girl to a violent, powerful force by the end of the book, all while solving a murder that keeps unfolding new twists and turns. This book makes me feel strong. Like I could fight a bad guy on a burning barge then jump into to arctic freezing water to swim to my safety as it explodes. Which she does, in the book."

"The ultimate existential gangster film. Hypnotic, detailed, ritualistic, it has influenced
films like John Woo’s The Killer and the more recent Drive. Alain Delon
gives his most memorable performance as an ice-cold assassin above such mundane
concerns as moral conscience. Though violent in its subject matter, Jean-Pierre
Melville’s film is also cool, meticulously lit, and classically framed. It
operates in a kind of dream state. It’s the opposite of the fevered emotional style of
most gangster films. The pauses and silences help make it the visual equivalent of Harold
Pinter’s dialogue. This is my favorite Melville film, and the extras are among
Criterion’s finest, including an interview with John Woo and one with Melville himself."

Ok i am going to say i really enjoyed this western. I thought it had the right amout of action in this western.
A great story from the point of view Tonto (Johnny Depp) on how him and John Reid, the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) met.

Now the down fault of this movie is that it was under the Disney Flag. If they held off till they had another studio (FOX) and put it out under that studio flag it would have done better. Just seem to violent for a disney movie and alot of adult hummor. Now if they ever plan to remake it again under Disney i would tie in Thunder Mountain and less blood.
