Michel Gondry recommended Groundhog Day (1993) in Movies (curated)
Once again, I am in the minority with this book. It has received so many good reviews of 4 and 5 stars that I am beginning to think theres something wrong with me because I just didnt get it.

Gail (4 KP) rated Common Ground: Kayla and Taylor's Story in Books

Common Ground by Alice Rachel
Four Star
What if one day we wake up and the world wasn’t the same? You wake up and realize you can no longer do what you want or be who you truly are. Or you wake up and you already know that this is as far as you go. That no matter how hard you work your dreams don’t matter. This book made me really sad. To think that after we have moved so far ahead we end up right back where we started. Women with no rights, Gay's hiding from the world and men calling all the shots. Your daughters married off for status and the poor treated as if they’re scum under your boots. This book made you think about all the advantage we have now and how people fought to be free. The author did really well with how she presented her characters. There was too much tragedy for me. I don’t think Kayla should’ve had to go through her heartache to understand or join the cause. Taylor was hot and so mysterious. His character had you constantly guessing on what he would do next or how he would respond. A very interesting read.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Yesterday's Gone: Episode 1 (Yesterday's Gone, #1) in Books

This book will definitely appeal to fans of [Stephen King's][The Stand]. A select few people wake up in a world where almost everyone is gone and survival comes first. Soon the good vs the evil begin to emerge. This well paced book had a variety of characters. Although there are similarities to [The Stand] is is a more modern version that has different issues and consequences. Overall an enjoyable read.

A very good if short thriller about 5 guys who wake up in a warehouse with short term memory loss. They deduct that 2 of them are hostages and 3 are kidnappers, but who is who?
Great idea for a thriller and it has a fine cast and a couple of twists along the way as you try to guess who the bad guys are. Worth checking out.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2086 KP) rated Wake Up Little Susie (Sam McCain, #2) in Books

Sam McCain, part time lawyer and PI, investigates when the wife of a political hopeful is found dead in the trunk of the new Ford Edsel. I really enjoyed this trip back to the late 1950's, although the plotting could have been a little better. I do plan to read more in the series.

A movie that makes you think
A movie that makes you think and question the things you think you know. The cast couldn't be any better. There is enough fight scenes for this kind of movie. There is some romance. The main idea of this movie is to wake people to some of the problems of society, and this movie did it well. All character are relatable, to some point, bad and good alike. A movie worth watching.
