If the people speaking in this documentary were to be believed, The Shining is actually about the Holocaust, the American-Indian genocide, sexual liberation, sexual abuse, the destruction of society, the number 42, the ancient Greek legend of the Minotaur, all wrapped up in a confession about how Stanley Kubrick helped fake the moon landing. Also, you should watch it in reverse whilst simultaneously watching it normally, preferably with both projected over one another...

I'm not sure just how much I buy into any of that, but there's certainly some wild shit being thrown around in this documentary. Worth a watch, complimented with alcohol, or maybe even some of the Devil's Lettuce.

"I’m a very bad TV watcher, meaning I rarely watch more than one episode of any given show, and I usually don’t even make it that far. I downloaded all the episodes of this to watch on a flight and had I not been stuck on a plane and forced into finishing the series, I likely would’ve missed out on one of my favorite viewing experiences this year. The moment in the elevator when the two leads first meet overwhelmed me to the point of tears. It so perfectly summed up that feeling of realization you have when you meet your soul mate, romantic or otherwise: “I’m not alone in the world.”"

"Again, limiting myself to only one film per director, I went with Mon oncle to stand for Tati’s body of work. It was hard not to pick Playtime, but now that I’ve seen it a few times in 70 mm, I’m not sure I can ever bring myself to watch it on television (and I own the Criterion version). I had the opportunity to see M. Hulot’s Holiday a number of times as a teen and in college, but it never did much for me. Mon oncle was different. It was a revelation, so charming and brilliantly inventive, yet understated. It is a film I can watch again and again (and I have)."

Binge worthy
Finally making my way through Dexter. Finished the first series a while back and plenty more to get through. I don't really binge watch many TV shows but this show is the equivalent of a book you can't put down. I've got through the 12 episodes in less than a week.
Continuing on from the first Dexter is under greater scrunity than ever before and has things spinning out of his control. More great revelations going back to his past unravel.
This is just as good if not better than the 1st series. If you missed Dexter when it was first on, like me, then definitely move it to the top of your watch list!

Wickedly good fun
This was definitely on my radar after seeing a trailer a few weeks ago. A slightly oddball horror/comedy film as a new bride has to play a game as part of a tradition with the new family. This is no normal game of Hide and seek! It reminded me a bit of @You're Next (2013) but with more of a funny side. Simple premise but done very well. Samara Weaving is definitely one to watch out for, also very good in @The Babysitter (2017) If you want a fun, quirky horror film in the build up to Halloween this is worth a watch.

Incredible
It's not very often I binge watch a show but from the moment I saw the trailer for this, I just had to watch it all.
It's kind of difficult to explain the show outside of what is hinted at in the trailer - Alma is seeing visions of her dead father, who is now teaching her how to time travel so that she can go back and try to prevent his death!! It's a trippy, sci-fi drama dealing with grief, trauma and mental illness, beautifully told using a rotoscoped animation style and featuring a great cast including Rosa Salazar and Bob Odenkirk. I absolutely loved it and really hope we get another season.
