"A great statement on human nature made by one of my favorite directors, Sidney Lumet. Early Jack Klugman, Jack Warden, and Martin Balsam are brilliant here, as well as the messenger/angel Henry Fonda. If you have any doubts about jury duty, please watch this. As for justice, there is just us . . ."

"Blonde Redhead was a band i came across when I was working in a record shop in NZ. This was one of my favourite albums to spin when I wanted to blast myself with washed out guitars and soaring melodies. Kazu Makino is an exceptional guitar player who is always inspiring to watch"

"I used to watch it all the time as a kid. It led to my obsession with hip-hop as a teenager. I probably watched it like once a week for two years. I watched it again the other day. Even though it’s super cheesy, it’s still really well done and well shot."

"Here’s a great double bill: watch this film with its haunting original score by Georges Auric, then again as a Philip Glass opera. (Thank you, Criterion, for including both tracks.) This Cocteau-Marais collaboration still intoxicates. Not since Sternberg had a director put his star (also his lover) on such luminous display."

"I’ve always been a fan of Moulin Rouge. That’s one of those films I watch over and over. You know, just the epitome of a love story, done in such a beautiful way. I love music, and just the combination of the music and how they did it; you can’t beat that."

"My heart explodes every time I watch this film. I love how Hulot interacts with all the frivolous things that collide with him, like an ape in Space Odyssey. Tati’s weird parody of modern technology ends up romanticizing every little object with the slightest touch of his style. Childish, dense, and extremely watchable."

"Then you could cut away from films like that and say a film like Zulu, with Stanley Baker and Michael Caine. It’s just a film that, no matter where you pick it up — like the first two — you have to keep watching. I think I watch that film three times a year."

"What’s left to be said about The Third Man? Quite a bit, actually—as evidenced by the multiple Criterion commentaries on this edition, one featuring filmmakers Steven Soderbergh and Tony Gilroy, the other with historian Dana Polan. I could watch this movie, and its supplements, on a loop for days without going cuckoo."
