Wasn't sure what I was expecting from this one but got more than I thought. At first glance I thought it was going to be more of a "psychological' horror flick. Turned out to be more of a "creature feature". There was some killing in it, but nothing too gory. Things literally got hairy in this movie. The actors all did a decent job and the cinematography was good. I'd have liked more of a "back story" on the main character but they filled in some of the gaps about her. Overall this was an entertaining movie. Not really scary at all, but held the interest well enough to watch it all the way through. Interesting take on the werewolf genra. Worth a watch if you're bored some night.

At first, I wasn't going to watch this series, I had seen it advertised countless times, and it didn't really interest me, but so many people, including one of my good friends, kept telling me to watch it, so, in the end I did, and I am glad I did, it had me gripped, pretty much from the first episode.
The series consists of 10 episodes, telling the tale of how a young man meets a woman, and becomes obsessed with her, and at what lengths he will go to, to be with her, and to keep her. I just finished the last episode last night, and I must say, I was shocked by the ending, personally didn't see it coming.
Would definitely recommend and I hope they make another series.

Wolfcop is one of those movies that is really, really fun to watch and turns great if you've got a few beers in you (or, if like me, you enjoy a good b-rated movie that doesn't take itself seriously). It has a start that makes you wonder if you made the right choice, but it's outlandish and enjoyable enough to be a fun watch. It's a great take on the usual werewolf story. They've got some really great scenes in there, and the use of practical effects is admirable enough to warrant some serious props. No cheap CGI here, just some good ol' effects.

It was good enough to make me interested in the sequel, which is saying something for b-rated movies.

I was undecided whether to watch this film. musicals generally don't appeal to me (there are exceptions). however my wife wanted to watch it so I bought her the blu-ray and we sat down on a Saturday night and watched it. I was really very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Hugh Jackman anyway I don't remember a bad film he's been in and I think he's a fantastic all round entertainer. I felt some of the songs seemed a bit samey and forgettable but the story and acting were good. Zac Efron I think redeemed himself from the drivel he's been in recently. It was a shame about some dodgy cgi in places but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I created a video explaining my slow decent into hating this series, for your viewing pleasure:

However, my short and sweet review of this book is as such. I thought this book was a good start to a series. Yes, I found Lemony Snicket to be irritating, especially with him jokingly defining words every few paragraphs, but I was able to find this book charming enough to move onto the next one... Because I hadn't gotten annoyed yet. I probably remember this book fondly only because it was the first book, and not the sixth book in a series that was exactly like the first book, or the ninth, or the eleventh. This book was short and pleasant, as this series should have been.

Maybe not enough of the giant shark. (0 more)
Big shark. Big screen. Big fun.
If you’re up for a corny creature feature, look not further than The Meg. I saw it on both of the biggest screens around (IMAX and XD) and it was a fun ride both times. I found it slightly better than the average creature feature (the reasoning for the Meg’s continued survival being somewhat more plausible than average), it’s still too corny for many. But if you’re idea of fun is to watch a CGI shark try to eat people for a couple hours, this is worth looking into. Highly recommended you try to watch this on the biggest screen to get that underwater feel.

It was amazing
The movie was absolutely astonishing. Not only was Hugh Jackman included but the songs were great and so catchy and it’s a family friendly film that everyone can enjoy.
However, although it is a great movie, it in a way celebrates P.T Barnum as someone who empowered people when in reality he exploited them for his own benefit.
For instance, one of his earliest “hits” was Joice Heth, a blind, partially paralysed slave. Barnum claimed she was 161 years old (even though she was half that) and when she died, he held a public autopsy and charged people to watch. Obviously we wouldn’t see Jackman do that.
However, without any reference to what Barnum was actually like, I love this film so much and would definitely watch it again.

Love, Simon (2018)
Love, Simon (2018)
2018 | Comedy, Drama, Romance
A teen angst rom-com for the modern age. It follows formula plot points well trodden except that Simon (played charmingly by Nick Robinson) is gay. This was a big step forward for a major studio such as 20th Century Fox to give it the mainstream film treatment it deserves.
There's some great music and a likeable cast, and plenty of humour.
On first watch you're kept guessing on who the mystery love interest Blue is and end up just as relieved/pleased as Simon when the truth is revealed.
Jennifer Garner as Simon's Mum gives a perfect speech at one point that makes me well up each time I see it. It stands up well to repeat viewings. A recommendation for anyone to watch, not just for teens.

Thanks to Smashbomb for the dvd!

Too much symbolism

Not really horror movie
Worst movie EVER
Promising start and then it becomes painful to watch. It has the most annoying characters ever. I personally can't remember the last time I watched such a bad movie. Too much symbolism, too many hidden messages which makes it hard to watch without scratching your head and wondering what in the world is going on. Only making a LITTLE bit of sense when you read about the movie online. I saw many positive reviews about it. I personally HATED it as I was expecting a proper horror movie.... it wasn't! And being a huge horror movie fan, I can say that it was very disappointing. So this was a waste of time and a big no-no for me.

This is definitely not the typical period piece, but I really enjoyed every minute of it. It was a little crude and a bit off in some places, but it was all effective. The costumes were all beautiful, and the wigs on the men were so outrageous but period accurate.
The devious little plots were hilarious to watch play out, though, I have to admit, I was rooting for Sarah (Wiesz) the whole time. As soon as Abigail (Stone) messed with the bunny, she was dead to me. I really felt for Queen Anne (Colman), she was all over the place, but it was understandable due to the emotional trauma she'd suffered. Overall, it showed an interesting dichotomy of female friendship, and it was fun to watch on screen.
