Just the right amount of suspense, mystery, romance, and creepiness......to satisfy the bookish mind!

I am not typically a "suspense" reader (and DEFINITELY not a suspense movie type of person at all). But when word about this book started circulating around the bookish world last year...I just knew I HAD to read it!!! I mean just look at that cover...It screams "YOU MUST READ ME! You MUST discover the secrets that I hold within these pages!"

Be prepared for a lot of emotions that will be brought to the surface while reading The House on Foster Hill. Jaime addresses some very difficult topics in this book. And I am SO glad she does. It is not easy to read about, but the TRUTH must be shared. The secrets, the pain, the shame, must all be brought forward for healing, restoration, and freedom.

With a dual timeline, the author alternates between the present and the past with flawless accuracy. Secrets and shame hide behind the walls of Foster Hill House. What will be revealed? And what will be lost to history forever?

I received a complimentary copy of The House on Foster Hill. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Frozen Over by Tarrah Anders

Four stars

I was captivated by this story. The loss of control and the need to posse someone. Tyson is a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t hold back because of feelings. He’s into one night stands and wham bam thank you ma'am. He’s an butthole and he doesn’t hide it from those around him. You get 100% honesty and realness. Allison is strong minded and determined. She does beg or cry for attention. She knows her worth and doesn’t settle. When she finally has a career break through she didn’t know it would come with the attention of the CEO. When Tyson first saw her he didn’t know that hell was getting ready to freeze over. I really enjoyed the story. I liked the conversation between the main characters it wasn’t forced or lacking in emotion. You could feel Tyson's struggle with coming to term with his emotions. I really liked that he kept his honesty and didn’t let himself hold back. Great read and I hope there is more to come. This author gave me something new and I hope her writing style only gets better.

Bandslam is a decent coming-of-age film for ages 7-13, but it is your typical American high school story where the guy gets the girl and everything works out in the end. The only good thing that comes from this film is the hidden truth that is revealed about society: when rumours are passed around about you and you move school, but the students at the new school always find out about your background and use it as a weapon. This brutal truth is shown throughout the film as Will tries, unsuccessfully, to hide the fact his father killed a kid whilst drinking under the influence and is now in prison with a DUI. What is most shocking is, not only do the students at his new school use his father's DUI against him, but so does Charlotte, who was supposedly Will's friend. Overall, Bandslam is more suited to younger audiences with an open mind.
