A must watch for Slasher fans
An above average straight to DVD slasher. Surprised could have done ok at the cinema. A creepy looking killer, good location, quite a few familiar faces in the cast including William Sadler! Quite gory in places, the story is original if very far fetched. A mix of 8mm, Scream and Wrong turn. Better than most recent slasher films I've seen.

Take everything good about the first movie, add William Sadler in what is surely his most iconic performance ever, members of Faith No More, a performance from goddam Primus (!), a sequence in hell that's genuinely unnerving as shit, evil robot versions of Bill and Ted, Hal Landon Jr's weirdly accurate impression of Ted, and a sprinkling of Pam Grier, and you get an absurdly wild sequel that tries to one up it's predecessor at every turn, and mostly succeeds.
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is a ride. Love it.

Christmas Harder
Die Hard 2- is actually a good movie, has good action, good plot and of course Bruce Willis. As with the first film, the action in Die Hard 2 takes place on Christmas Eve.
The Plot: A year after his heroics in L.A, detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is mixed up in another terrorist plot, this time at Washington Dulles International Airport, where he is waiting for his wife (Bonnie Bedelia). That same night, South American politico and drug profiteer Ramon Esperanza (Franco Nero) is arriving in U.S. custody. McClane takes action when a treasonous ex-colonel (William Sadler) seizes control of the airport, threatening to crash every inbound flight unless Esperanza is freed.
A good christmas movie to watch with the whole family.

I'm not going to lie, about 10% of the reason I like this one is because of William Sadler doing naked tai chi.
Could you imagine Die Hard 2 filmed these days? There'd be no tasing Dick, what a disappointment.
Of the few things that bother me about this one the film's yippee ki-yay for me could have been better timed. He's got the perfect moment coming up, if he'd have just left it until after he lit the fuel... "Yippee ki-yay, motherf*****!" *two beats* BOOM.
Sadly Die Hard 2 is my least favourite out of the four... like I said, we don't count the fifth one. Not that that's a bad thing, it's still damn good, it's just up against some stiff competition.
In the first one McClane has Powell, in Vengeance he has Zeus and in 4.0 he has Farrell. For some reason in 2 they didn't give him someone to properly develop a relationship with, there are lots of people there for him to interact with, but nothing really lasts very long before he's off to the next one.

William Sadler is AMAZING as usual
Pretty good story line
Indie Horror that kicks Mainstreams Ass
Going in to an indie film. I kinda hold my breath for the possibility that it could suck big time.
But, with this movie I was shockingly surprised with what transpired here.
Knowing a head of time the outcome of this film, because I have big mouthed friends, i was able to breathe comfortably and enjoy this movie.
It got right in to the death and disturbing story. It got all gross and disturbing just how I like them.
The only thing that truly bothered me about this movie is the incestual storyline that, while it made sense to the overall outcome of the film, it kind of put a damper on the last 30 minutes of the movie.
Incestual characters have been a staple in horror. From the Sawyers to the Wrong Turn mountain men. All of which provided amazing franchise horror movies.
The fact that this movie almost beats to death that Dollface is the product of incest is kind of annoying.
But all in all, this movie is fun, gross, disturbing and ultra cool.
All praise indie films folks, without them there would be almost no good horror films to view for sickening individuals such as myself.

LeftSideCut (3778 KP) rated VFW (2019) in Movies

VFW feels like Hobo With a Shotgun mashed together with From Dusk Till Dawn, with a sprinkling of Mandy for good measure, all whilst accompanied by an atmospheric synthwave score. What's not to love?
Truthfully, it brings nothing new to the table. What we see in VFW has been done before, and Joe Begos just wallows in that fact. It's a good time.
It has a distinctive grindhouse feel to it throughout, it has a semi Terminator style 80s feel to it throughout, but still manages to carve out its own identity.
The cast are great - Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin , David Patrick Kelly - all actors that I thoroughly enjoy, here playing war veterans fighting back against a gang of leather clad drug addicts laying siege to their bar. It's a simple premise, mixed with a 90 minute runtime, ensuring that VFW packs a hyper violent punch.
When I say violent, I mean violent. It's gory as all hell and doesn't shy away from what it shows. It doesn't feel too over the top as the film is so fast paced, you hardly have time to process what just happened before something else ridiculous happens.
VFW is certainly not for everyone, but I found it to be an over the top and stylish horror gem. Check it out!

365Flicks (235 KP) rated The Hollow (2016) in Movies
Nov 20, 2019
Often all it takes for me to put a flick on is to see a name of an Actor that I have loved in other movies, this can often make me more forgiving and open to watch the next flick that comes along. When I received The Hollow for the intentions of reviewing. I was smacked in the face by two such names, William Sadler (Shawshank, Die Hard 2) and William Forsythe (Things to Do in Denver When Your Dead, The Rock). Neither actor is setting the world on fire as of late but as a movie fan you know your about to get some solid performances. I was not wrong.
The Hollow is yet another Small Town backwoods crime drama genre in a long line of VOD releases. The difference being that The Hollow has a certain amount of Backwoods charm to it that usually tends to fall flat upon replication, This is in no small part due to the performances driving the Flick. Writer, Director and Star Miles Doleac plays corrupt as balls Deputy Sheriff Ray Everett. In a town that seems to have been forgotten by the outside world Ray is able to function as a truly horrendous unlikable character, But fear not because just about everyone in this down is a bonafide Asshole. The movie kicks into gear fairly quickly when we witness a triple murder down by Make-Out Creek (Thats what they call places like that right). One of the victims being an under-age girl we witnessed barely 10 minutes ago giving Officer Ray some pretty bad head (Like a said he is a proper shit bag)… The FBI comes swarming into town when it is revealed one of the other victims is the daughter of a US Congressman. The game of small town cover up vs government stooges begins.
I’m not going to dive to deep into this flick because it is your standard by the numbers Crime/Drama. I said towards the start of this write-up that sometimes all it takes is a couple of names that you recognize as regular Jobbers who tend to put in solid performances and that is certainly one of the things this movie has going for it. Forsythe, Sadler and Jeff Fahey all being shining lights for me. Not to be out shone in his own movie though Doleac manages to portray a truly horrendous shit bag with no redeeming quality’s at all pretty expertly and that is where your Movie can live or die. Take nothing away from the supporting cast either they were all great just that most characters were fairly one dimensional.
Personally I feel like The Hollow is a good enough movie with some solid performances that you would be kept entertained. The script is not exactly Tarantino levels, while it does at times feel like thats what Doleac was going for, but as I said at the start when you sit down to this movie, you know what your getting.
Its a solid Recommend from 365HQ in a sea of by the numbers Crime/Dramas The Hollow has some pretty great performances and for the directors second Feature Film its a solid effort.

Totally bogus
I really wanted to like this film. I love the original two but the thought of another sequel so many years later just didn’t sit right, and I’m afraid after watching this I’m really not convinced.
There are a lot of good things about this though. It’s good to see Bill and Ted back and to see Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter back together, and this gives it a rather nostalgic and nice feeling. The film also has a good message and the whole thing is just heartwarming and enjoyable fun. By far the best thing about this film though is William Sadler returning as Death, and I also quite warmed to Dennis who was very much on the border of being cringey, at times, but these two are the only ones that made me laugh the entire film.
And now the bad. I hated the daughters, they were just either very dull or ridiculously cringey and I just found them being (smarter) carbon copies of their fathers a little bit obvious and predictable. I also feel like Bill and Ted themselves have been pushed to one side in this to make room for the daughters, and this is meant to be a Bill and Ted film! The daughters journey was just repeating the same story from the originals too. I don’t understand either why the future versions of Bill and Ted were so horrible, and the song at the end was rather a letdown as well.
I’m probably being very harsh but I really don’t think this film should have been made. If you want to watch a Bill and Ted film, watch the first two.

LeftSideCut (3778 KP) rated The Mist (2007) in Movies

"It appears we may have a problem of some magnitude."
The Mist is flat out fantastic for a handful of reasons.
Firstly, it has a ridiculously good cast - Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Tony Jones, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, William Sadler, Alexa Davalos, Sam Witwer...there isn't a weak link at all, and it's a damn good job - The Mist isn't a straight forward creature feature. Although it's does have it's fair share of monster moments, it's main focus is on the dangers of fanatacism, and the delusions of human beings, as a lot of regular Joes who are just scared of the events unfolding, start to blindly follow the words of Mrs. Carmody, someone who is truly unhinged, and truly believes what she preaches - it's a concept all too familiar in today's real world, and Marcia Gay Harden puts in a show stopping performance, and is one the easiest-to-hate horror antagonists ever put to screen.
The titular Mist is realised superbly, and also does a good job at hiding the CGI monsters effectively. What we do get shown is just enough for a decent payoff, and there are some breathtaking shots during the films climax. For the most part though, it's a masterclass in stimulating the audiences imagination, and is scary in what you don't actually see.
And the of course there is THAT ending. If you somehow haven't seen The Mist yet, then go in with as little knowledge as possible, and let that ending just destroy your very soul. Its propels what is a good horror, into an all timer, even if it is a straight up depression simulator.
Really worth a look for any fans of horror, sci-fi, monsters, or Stephen King, and seek out the black and white version for extra satisfaction!
