I found this interesting film in a Stanley Kramer DVD collection I purchased a few years ago. The idea and story are similar to The Wizard of Oz. This time a young boy gets sucked into an interesting world he must make his way out of.
As much as I don't like remakes, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp could have a field day redoing this film for a new generation.
Still an entertaining film.

Wizard Olympics... and some folks die.
In the continuing story of Harry Potter, we get to follow our gang of wizards through a few seldom seen events: The Qudditch World Cup and the Tri-Wizard Tournament. We meet a few new characters and we get to dig even deeper into the storyline that continues through the whole series. Besides getting deeper into EVERYTHING in the Potter-Verse, we also get our first visit from a full grown and resurrected He Who Cannot Be Named.

The fourth installment of jim Butchers' "The Dresden Files" series, this sees the eponymous PI/Wizard-for-hire (the only professional wizard in the Chicago Phone Book) becoming embroiled in Faerie politics, as he is hired by the Winter Queen to solve a murder. Meanwhile, Harry has also to deal with the backlash from the Wizard High Council, who blame him for starting a war between the Wizards and the Vampire Courts, as he's also desperately looking for a cure for his ex-girlfriend who was bitten by a vampire towards the end of 'Grave Peril'.

This book also sees a welcome return of Karrin Murphy to a larger role than in the last novel, and with Harry still wise-cracking his way through the plot it also 'felt' (if that's the word I'm looking for) lighter than that previous installment.

I enjoyed this collection of wizard fairy tales, although it really could have been longer.

An interesting continuation of the Wizard of Oz
As a Wizard of Oz adaptation I found this novel to be interesting as it focuses on issues such as greed, trust and power that are prevalent in modern society as underlying themes. Overall, I found the novel to be engaging through its twisted interpretation of what happens after Dorothy returns to Kansas. Despite this, it should be noted that there are parts of this work that drag a little due to a lack of action in chapters that are focused on character and plot development.
