I gamed away whole afternoons playing this game. The immersion is wonderful, as well as the storyline. I really enjoyed sending out separate parties to do quests from the war table and then seeing their process/changes in the world as I was questing. There's quite a bit of re-play value, as you can choose what class your character can play as well as who you form a romantic relationship with and what classes your team members will be.

THE MAKING OF MARIGOLD McGRATH is a Second World War story that doesn't shy away from the hurt and pain that war brings to ordinary lives. Okay, so not everyone had the opportunity to meet with Winston Churchill when he was Prime Minister, or meet Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, but you get the idea.
We start in America with Marigold living with her parents. Her best friend, Trude, lives with her father, but is soon leaving the country to study abroad. Marigold makes a mistake and ends up moving to London. Her life is a series of happenings, sometimes being in the right place at the right time, and other times being in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time.
One of the other main characters is Joop from the Netherlands. He was studying in Britain, too, until the war happened and he signed up. Eventually, he fights for the Dutch Resistance. I won't say anything else, because I don't want to give any spoilers.
While the story is both gripping and heartbreaking, as it deals with the turmoil of war, I did find it a little disjointed at times, especially when a character died. It was written, done, and moved on with very little time to process. I also don't know if it is the first in a series, as there were definitely questions left unanswered, with a rather abrupt ending.
On the whole, this was a great read that I'm glad I have read. I learnt more about the War than I originally knew (like the pets), and would definitely read more by this author. Recommended by me.

Ms. Dickson is a new to me author. I really enjoyed getting to know her work through this wonderful historical fiction novel! From start to finish, I was pulled into the center of the story and kept there until the very last page was reached.Â
This book was a double bonus for me! I have always loved Ireland(even if I haven’t ever visited there!) and I have always loved the World War II era. This book is the best of both those worlds. Filled with wonderful details of historic happenings, and characters like Nan and Dutch that quickly steal your heart, I felt like I was transported back into the world of Hitler, and emotions so strong that they become the reader’s emotions.Â
Ms. Dickson is definitely an author I recommend. She created this 4 star novel with passionate detail to another place in time, and left me feeling all the feels with this book. I loved the story line of redemption and hope. I can’t wait to read another book by this talented author!Â

So intense!
This is one of those films that you end up thinking about for days afterwards. It's so intense and submursive that it really takes you on its journey. It is so well filmed and the acting is incredible. It's a film I believe everyone should see. It was such a massive part of the Second World War which is often skipped over in history lessons.

The kennings
Abhinava Khose, Murr, and Eep

What I liked: Wow, Hearne has really created a whole new world in this series. I can't imagine the time it took to come up with several nations, kennings, and all the culture behind each. I was impressed. The kennings are interesting and somewhat horrifying. It would be amazing to do any of the things the blessed are able to do, but the fact that you age and use up your life span if you push your kenning too hard is horrifying and almost not worth it, in my opinion. The creatures in this book are scary and I would not want to live in a world where they exist. However, they really added to the world building, especially once the 6th kenning is found. Abhinava Khose was probably my favorite character, largely due to the fact that he can control and communicate with animals. I found myself sucked in any time the bard delivered a piece of his story. I love books that switch perspectives, and this was definitely a new way of doing it. I liked the way it was written for the most part.
What I didn't like: I will say that it took some time to grab my attention, but that may be because I don't usually read high fantasy. It took me a while to read this book and at one point I didn't know if I would continue. However, I am glad I stuck it out because it picked up and I became invested in the story.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It took some time for me to get into it, but I am glad I finished it. I think the author has built an interesting world full of magic and war and I will definitely pick up the next book in this series.

[Defy the Night] by [Heather and Lydia Munn] was a very telling coming of age story. In fact throughout most of the book I really did not like the main character, Magali. I thought she was selfish and egotistical. I guess that was the point though.
The setting of "free" France during early World War II is something most people are not aware of because it was when most of the world was in denial. The people there fought on silently doing what they could for whom they could. This was not the Resistance as most people know of but perhaps it's predecessor.
The book was very well written and as I stated before the characters definitely had their own personalities. I will be adding this book to my classroom library and recommending it to the school library.
