Great series of letters let down by monotony
Claire Fuller's writing is poetic and haunting in this novel especially as we read a series of letters left by a wife who has been missing for 12 years.
The story surrounds Ingrid, and her horribly destructive relationship with her writer husband Gil. Her youngest daughter Flora has to come to terms with these revelations, after idolising her father for so long.
My only concern is while the back and forth narrative between Ingrid's letter and the present day is well laid out, the story itself becomes lacklustre and the epilogue is a little misleading leaving a question mark over her death. Good writing but plot could be more rich.

OK. ..my original thought when I started reading was not a good one. That being said I kept reading and it didn't turn out as bad as I originally thought it would be. The characters I liked. .. The plot was typical but sweet and fun. The writing I wasn't a fan of. I didn't like the way it was written. It went from sounding very very young to cussing. it just felt off to me. However. .I am very glad I read it and kept reading because the ending made it worth it. And the writing got better as the book went on. Overall it wasn't my thing but I did enjoy it.

This film shouldn't have told tales.

Literally the only part of this one I enjoy is the ending. Seeing Will and Elizabeth FINALLY be reunited is so lovely but the rest just isn't work my time if I'm honest. Stranger Tides felt forced but this just felt pressured into being a POTB when it just isn't. It doesn't fit in the world of it. Unfortunately Johnny Depp couldn't save the terrible writing and plotline. The actors in this that were new to me seemed like awful actors but after seeing them in something else i realise they were just trying to make the most out of the un-charismatic, shoddy, rushed, desperate writing.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley And the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book is strange. The first half is a slow burn creepiness which I did not mind at all. Then the last fourt of the book is at breakneck speed and really confusing.
So. Plot. Haunted house. Dead girls. Creepy small child. Angty guy with past.
I liked the writing although the main character Haley seemed to be written about twelve instead of fifteen and that was...odd.
Also I really really hated the ending. I'll fully admit that that's a me thing though and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the writing.

The Movie is very well made (2 more)
Writing is especially good
Acting
The Story itself (1 more)
Lots of holes in plot and moments that don't make sense...
Craftsmanship is excellent, the story is bad.... writing is good, to many holes in plot
I didn't even know what this was about when I saw it, and I knew there was hype, but not why.... I don't get why people like this movie so much. it's creepy and unsettling most of the time... yes there are tense moments, but I didn't care about any of the characters..... I just didn't want to see what would happen next.... for me that's not good. This movie is a shade below qualifying as horror.
