I may not have fallen in love with the characters of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but I was mesmerized by the story. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer capable of weaving a multifaceted tale. I loved her writing style

BookCritics (259 KP) rated The Hundredth Queen in Books
Jun 2, 2017
As soon as I started reading, I wanted to stay. In fact, I knew this book would get five stars from me on chapter six. Not much had happened yet, but I was already in love with Emily R. King’s writing style. It’s effortless, but vivid

Nina George has done a marvelous job with this book! Her writing is enchanting! It is rich and powerful. The reader feels as if they were part of the port Kedruc company, one of them, living in that small town and spending every day and night

BookCritics (259 KP) rated Bookshop At Water's End in Books

I think that thing that really made this book hard to put down was the quality of the writing. The book had such a nice flow and I always wanted to read just a bit more. I thought that the story had a very realistic quality to it.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Eric Larson] does it again with [Dead Wake] by making non fiction read like fiction all the while providing a great amount of information. The research that he does before writing a book shows his deep passion fro the topics. In [Dead Wake] he informs the reader not only what is was like being on the Lusitania, but also the political intrigue that seemed to surround the voyage and it's demise.

Incredible plot (3 more)
Beautiful writing
Nuanced philosophical dilemma
Dynamic characters
Science meets Religion and has a two way conversation
Truly an incredible book, it is my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for something new. The reconciliation of religion and science has never been so beautifully scifi.
As someone raised without religion, this was still an incredible read, and truly made me see the beauty in both hard science and faith.

Amazing cast (2 more)
Brilliant writing
Gets you hooked from episode 1
Damn...
Jason Bateman is just one of those actors I really enjoy watching and Ozark really shows him at his best. The show is a drama filled rollercoaster with a truly amazing cast. Well there are a few dragging bits to it I never found it all that hard to power through.

One of my favourite books
Honestly this has been one of my favourite books of all time ever since I first read it. It's one of the most battered books on my shelf because I constantly read it and re-read it! So many emotions in all one go & I just can't put it down. Spoiler alert though: prepare to be heartbroken at the end!
Sarah (7800 KP) rated The Sudden Appearance of Hope in Books

Good premise
I had high hopes (ha) for this, but sadly I found it a little disappointing. It's a great individual idea for a story and it starts off well, I just found the plot dragging after a while and the ending was disappointing. Hope herself isnt tbe most endearing of characters either. Shame as the writing was very good, just the story itself doesn't live up to expectations.
