graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Poison Study (Study, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
I haven't read many books, if any, that deal with a poison tester, so I found the premise in Poison Study very interesting. The plot, the characters, everything was so well-done and fascinating that I became immersed into the story so much that I didn't notice anything that went on around me. Ms. Snyder has a lovely, uninterrupted, and smooth style of writing that is very easy to read. I can't wait to get to Magic Study next! :)

Well, this was such an easy read, I read it in a day.
I just love the easy flow that James Patterson writes with. I also love the view of the world through a teenagers view, in the throes of young teenage love and angst.
However the writing is slighty young for my tastes now...obviously as this is for teenagers, but I still enjoyed the read and I cant wait to read Angel....I hope Max does save the world.

Depressing
Each chapter of this book is its own story, and all the stories take place in the same subdivision in 1979's Toronto. The writing style was really good. Each story had me hooked, and it didn't take me long to finish the book. Unfortunately I didn't particularly enjoy any of the stories. They were all sad. I do normally enjoy sad stories, but these lacked the redeeming qualities I like. It was all very realistic in the most depressing way possible.

This was both confusing and interesting. Take everything you know about Pride and Prejudice and just flip it upside-down. The characters are there in theory but you find yourself almost confused by the language of yesteryears mixed in with today's society. This is a book you really need to buckle down and concentrate on, not just an afternoon tea read.
Good for anyone who enjoys adaptions and rewrites brought into our century. But be aware the writing seems old fashioned.

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Robin Hood (2018) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
Taron Egerton has made quite a name for himself as the plucky Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise, but this revamp of the Robin Hood story is an absolute turd of a film. After last year’s lifeless King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the writing really was on the wall for this overblown adventure that spectacularly achieves nothing in its running time. Can you get a refund at the cinema?

Shazam!!
I thought this movie was very good. But for a superhero movie I felt like it had more foul language and scary parts than your average hero film. I wouldn't reccomend bringing younger kids if they get scared easily. I did enjoy the humorous parts, and the part of the sidekick played by Jack Dylan Grazer was great. The writing was good, and Mark Strong as the villain is always a good choice.

The style of writing draws you in and keeps you wanting more
The plot twists and turns are clever, unpredictable and addictive.
It is an easy, intelligent and clever read.
The authors experience as a former lawyer adds a depth of knowledge and understanding of the justice system usually found lacking in other books of this genre.

Very well written and enjoyable story. There are parts that got a little confusing with the collectors and council, but I still really enjoyed it. I wasn't a big fan of the switching of characters as much as the story did. I follow easier with 1 or 2 POV's not 4 or 5. But, I loved the romance and action that was in this story. The plot is amazing and the writing catches my attention and made me want to keep reading.
