Man do I love action movies, but this one seemed to get out of control sometimes. I really do like the XXX series but there were somethings I would change about this one. The fact that Xander Cage was dead and come back was fine, but I would have liked a little back story on where he was hanging out. It also felt like he was doing a good job staying off the grid so finding him that easily and getting him on board felt simple.

The opening scene was OK, that's usually the part of the action movie that is supposed to grab you. But with Gibbons blowing up and not being a part of the movie was kind of sad. I really do like Vin and Sam's back and forth during the movie. Adding a little comedy the way they do is why I like their chemistry on screen. The rest of the plot was simple and straight forward. Only adding a few twists to a movie like this makes it more fun to watch and less to think about what is going on.

I like the addition of the XXX teams, it really showed that something was going on in between movies. Although it made is seem like the "bad" XXX team went rogue, but they were still trying to do right by the country. The team up between the 2 was fantastic, they finally realized they were on the same team and kicked some ass.

Now for the bad, there were times in this movie where the stunt work was too over the top even for me. You can do action without all the flipping and jumping. There are great stunt coordinators out there that can put together a great fight scene with out all extra stuff and still make it a good movie. There were also a few parts of the movie were you could tell it was CGI and not edited very well. The most notable was the motorcycle jet skis on the water. You really could tell how fake it was. Which is sad because it really could have been a cool scene.

Overall the movie was fun to watch, I would see the other 2 XXX movies before jumping into this one. There are a few hidden easter eggs that might make the watch more enjoyable. I wouldn't look to hard into the quality, just sit back and enjoy the show.

Vin diesel stars a soldier who is K.I.A only to be brought back by a company who specializes in high tech body replacements/enhancements. The story starts of weak and eventually is knocked into high Gear which doesn't quite last, and unfortunately delivers another obvious villain.
It's what I can only describe as a XXX meets terminator movie (which sounds better on paper) that's being dubbed as a universal soldier knockoff!?
The action scenes were perfectly done, creating a hard hitting thrill ride at times only to quickly slow down. Vin diesel is great in this, regularly appearing in his trade mark tank top but the movie is very anticlimactic which really doesn't help.

Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen and Micheal Bisping on the same team. Over the top action, Hoeky acting (0 more)
Hokey acting, over the top action stunts, lack of plot depth. (0 more)
Look if your looking for an Oscar-quality plot with great acting and cinematography this movie is not for you. This is a movie that plays to its strengths blowing stuff up, beautiful women and people doing dope things. It is a generic take over the world plot and I can't tell if Vin Diesel is phoning his return to XXX in but all things considered it wasn't that bad. High points were with Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, and Micheal Bisping I want another flick with these 3 guys as a team of mercenaries it sells itself. If you like over the top action this film is for you.

One of America's well written box sets. It will keep most bottoms stuck to the sofas.
The production team and the cast have delivered a first rate box set drama that will have you goggle eyed and lazy. You will laugh out loud and be left wiping away tears as you come to know and love the many characters.

The show jumps between decades informing you of the characters past and present. I know this can be not only annoying but also confusing. This is not the case in "This is us" Hat off to the production team and writers

The world is in lockdown, so I could be learning another language, or reading Ulysses, or writing a book, or practising the ukulele. Yet somehow I find myself spending my time watching obscure Vin Diesel movies. So it goes. This is one he made before he was properly famous, and which only got a proper release off the back of The Fast and the Furious and xXx. Vin's DEA agent gets very cross indeed when drug dealers shoot his wife after he arrests El Big Chief, and threatens to go off the rails entirely while seeking revenge.

Diesel has something of his usual presence and charisma, which means the film scrapes another point (just) - this is a very ordinary, very violent revenge thriller, with no interesting ideas, wit, or imagination about it. It's neither good, nor bad enough to be unintentionally funny - I nearly gave up halfway through, which hardly ever happens. Tedious macho nonsense; steer clear.

Die Hard (1988)
Die Hard (1988)

For my money, this is Bruce Willis's breakout role as New York detective John McClane, who - when visiting his estranged wife Holly for Christmas in Los Angeles - gets caught up when a group of criminals (led by Alan Rickman, in another brilliant role) seizes control of the high-rise building in which she works.

On his own, and presenting a more everyday action hero than the like of Schwarzenegger or Stallone (who would probably walk over broken glass without flinching in one of their films), the wise-cracking McClane finds himself taking on the group one by one in the cramped confines of the high rise.

There's a reason many-a-film since has been called "Die Hard on a xxx"

In short, oft imitated but never bettered

(and, back here, McClane has not yet transformed into the almost-superhero who shrugs off injuries that would cripple a lesser man that he becomes in the alter films)

I love Kirstan Higgins so much. She's a good writer, she's funny, she's clever, her characters are awesome, and there's always a cute dog or cat.

Also she rocks at writing kissing scenes. WOW!.

The number-one thing I love about her novels is this: She writes these awesome contemporary romance novels, but she doesn't litter them with explicit sex, which I DON'T like to read (I mean really, I feel like I'm sneaking into a XXX movie when I read stuff like that. It's private, man! The characters don't want you to know what's going on under the sheets!).

Anyway, Until There Was You didn't disappoint. Liam was amazing, Posey was sweet, Nicole (the daughter) was adorable, and the family was family: a-typical in every way and funny and weird and full of life. I love it. I wish I could keep this book forever instead of bringing it back to the library. I tore through this thing in like five hours... I stayed up until 4am reading.

But hey, other people have to read it too, right?

:D

Bloody Gooz Album
It has been sooooo long since I last got a CD. And oh how I have missed it! To my fellow 90s peeps: lyric booklets with art!!!!
I know, you can just Google the words, or watch a lyric version on YouTube, but this is different. Nostalgic. Plus, the art is wonderful. The colour and style is great, works well with the tone of the album and has a great simplicity to it.
Anyway, on to the music. I avoided Ed Sheeran at first, never one to hop on the hype train. But Toot Toot, thus guy does not dissapoint, and this album is no exception.
A great mix of up-beatand catchy songs, with some deep heart breakers to balance it out. It has something for all moods. Listen to it, then go back and listen again. There is wit and tenderness in his words that you do not see too often these days, and in a world of mainstream multiples, this album equals a little bit of diversity. From balards to rap, is there nothing he can't do?
Thanks Ed, and thanks @Smashbomb for my treat xxx

Good film, telling the story of a family's obsession with wrestling.
The Brother Zak and sister Saraya compete in small venues managed by their father and mother who were also professional wrestlers many years earlier.
It is zaks dream to reach the pinnacle of professional wrestling the wwe.
It somehow feels as a youngster that Saraya is pressured onto wrestling and has no real interest.
Herself and Zak try out for wwe in London and Saraya is chosen to go to the second round of auditions in Florida USA.
This does not sit well with Zak as this is his dream.
Cue family drama, this However is well done and not forced, it feels very real of what happens inside many families.
Paige of course reaches the top and takes on the Diva Champion AJ Lee for the title on smack down the night after Wrestlemania xxx.
The true story of the youngest WWE Diva champion at 21 is thoughtfully and well played out by all in the cast.
Major Credit to the writer and producer Stephen Merchant and also to Dwayne Johnson as producer as I'm sure having him on board lent a lot of authenticity to this movie.
Some fun cameos too from Big Show and Seamus.

It all begins when Susie sees the text on Alex's phone: "Start living a different kind of life ...P :-) xxx." Convinced he's having an affair, Susie sets off on her own trajectory that threatens their partnership of ten years and their life with their two children. And Alex? Is he completely innocent in all of this? And what about the mysterious P?

This novel is told from the alternating point of view of Susie, Alex, and Pippa. Susie's pieces come via standard narrative, Alex's mainly through email exchanges with his brothers and sister, and Pippa via emails to her sister. While this starts off as sort of enjoyable and different, it can grow old quickly (though the email format moved quickly at least). For instance, Pippa and Susie have a way of veering off into tangents about their past, which drove me absolutely insane. These summaries seemed not at all relevant to the book (what they wore and read at seventeen!) and dragged the narrative down and the story on forever.

Meanwhile, the novel sounds interesting in its premise: a group of characters brought together by a potential technological misunderstanding. It's certainly why I selected it as an ARC. The problem is that none of the characters are remotely redeemable or likeable. While a book that revolves around infidelity may not always have the most personable of characters, you can usually find some humanity them. This group: I just could not find any reason to root for them. I would find an occasional glimpse in Susie or Pippa, but overall, they all annoyed me with their whining and life choices, and I felt sorry for their children! Add to that a plot filled with a variety of twists and turns that would be better off in a soap opera or Lifetime movie (surprise pregnancies! love affairs with a spouse's siblings!), and my frustration level reached its peak. Again, there were moments I liked, but overall I just didn't find a lot of humor or enjoyment in this novel. 2.5 stars.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher and Netgalley (thank you!) in return for an unbiased review; it is available everywhere as of 12/06/2016
