Freddie's portrayal of autism is convincing and the miscommunication, meltdowns, and sensory overload are true to life. (3 more)
Pretty good representation among the staff and patients of the hospital. The show brings up many important topics through the medical cases and family situations of characters.
Seems to further awareness, acceptance of and interest in autism and autistic individuals.
Writers of show didn't shy away from some uncomfortable topics and behaviors around autism, even showcasing that Shawn's autism isn't always a gift and isn't always well-recieved.
Yet another young genius white boy as the face of autism, media completely underrepresents the female, learning disabled, older, or POC autistics out there. (3 more)
Shawn's friends and colleagues interfere in his life far more than they need to or should. They do not treat him like an adult or give him autonomy he deserves.
Shawn's autism symptoms seldom manifest at inconvenient times, and the few major outbursts that do occur are laughed off and rarely result in consequences.
They did not cast an autistic actor, who could have leant more authenticity to the role and been a real role model for autistic kids.
Good medical drama- lacking some realism

WHAT A BOOK!
I am at a loss for words when it comes to describing the power with words that Cher Gatto wields in this book. I went into this book thinking it might be a difficult read because of the subject matter, but Cher Gatto lays it out in a way that is easy to understand and deeply profound at the same time. Throughout the book, she constantly displays the message of grace and salvation to everyone regardless of life circumstances. From the characters that were layered to the even pace and plot twists, this story has something deeply compelling that needs to be read by everyone.
A heart moving book that is marketed as Young Adult but is for everyone regardless of age, it moved my heart and emotions like very few books do.
I truly loved this book and Highly Recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars for the great character growth, the deep issues covered, and for displaying the gospel so readily.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

You know those books that you don't only read, the ones that you inhale and absorb, this is one if those books.
It's been a little while since I read a young adult book so he fact that the language was so simple and there wasn't any imagery and metaphors really put me off at the start but as soon as the story got going I was HOOKED.
I'm a sucker for character development and getting to delve into the innermost thoughts of the four main characters and learning how they think and how they react, and slowly unravelling the secrets that they keep was such a thrill.
The plot could have been weak and if stop be praising how much I relate to all the characters even in a small way but that's not just it. The story flowed so well, even with the jumps of perspective they just left you hanging and wanting to read more, I never wanted this book to end.
This little world has become so special to me in such a short amount of time that this story and these characters will stay with me long into the future.

Seeing and enjoying the peculiar adventure of sharkboy and Lavagirl as a young teen a sequel was always wanted, when first advertised I had another Sonic The Hedgehog movie moment like "OH NO"
As a father with two monsters of my own who love sharkboy & Lavagirl they watched this before me and edged me to watch it with them...
Anyway, graphics continued from SB&LG was an appreciated touch as million dollar graphics don't always make the movie (although they help) a random casting with cute but weak acting and a plot unworthy of it's predecessor, we can be heroes is a nostalgic walk down memory lane that is both family friendly, fun (at least were the adult heroes are involved) and is more like a preschool edition of Disney's Sky High movie.
Best thing about the movie was the return of original Lavagirl actress Taylor dooley.
Appreciate the effort by Netflix, but maybe something more for the original fans next time around.
Plot: children of heroes attempt to rescue captured parents from an "evil" alien invasion ......or something like that.
