Not the usual alien movie.

It's not all over glorified action, instead it is a slow burn, centering around a small rebellion, with the feel of a government espionage/spy thriller.
Overall it felt slightly predictable but I wasn't hugely invested, so was happy to go along for the ride, and just enjoy it for what it was.

There are some acting giants here, that deliver as usual, but were given such short screen time for it to have much impact.
A couple of newbies, that I hadn't encountered, held up the leads, but unfortunately for them they weren't given much to work with, or build on for you too truly feel for them.

It certainly wasn't a bad film, it had some interesting moments but it will likely have faded from my purview within a week or two.

Don't watch if you're into all out battles with humans vs aliens going toe-to-toe, and trying to outsmart each other.
Do watch if you enjoy the slow unfolding of a spy thriller, with small doses of peril peppered throughout (and aliens just to spice it up a little).

A solid Alien Sequel that's more Alien than Prometheus
I love the alien movies and I really liked Prometheus despite mixed reviews so it's fair to say I was excited for this movie, and rightly so. From the start this is clearly going to be a great horror/thriller and a true alien movie and it doesn't disappoint. Michael Fassbender in this movie is amazing as he plays android Walter and David from Prometheus. The action is outstanding and horrific despite not occurring frequently, and there are a couple of great twists in the story. The final twist completely shocked me and I loved it and couldn't stop thinking about it for a long time it's so genius but that's for you to find out and hopefully love as well. Some may have predicted it but I don't care because I try not to predict where a film will go, I just enjoy the ride and this ride is fantastic!

I wanted to see this in the cinema when it came out in 2019.

I mean, come on, Will Smith returning to his 90s, post Fresh Prince, action hero roots?

I never got round to it, mainly because I never could get anyone else to go with me!

However, it recently popped up on Netflix, so I was finally able to give it a watch.

The verdict? Somewhat generic action thriller, not at all what I was expecting (which was something closer to the likes of Arnie's 'The 6th day'), primarily because of the far more contemporary setting.

It's no secret - it's even of the poster - that Will Smith is being hunted by a younger version of himself, but - watching this - it's obvious where the budget went: ie mainly on those de-ageing bits, with some of the other FX a little bit on the ropey side. That might also be because, I have since learned, that this was filmed for 3d yet I watched it in 2d.

Anyway, enjoyable but forgettable fluff.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Alan Wake in Video Games

Alan Wake- is one of those games that is highly underrated. It is a great game. It mixs horror with suspense with thrills with adventure and action.

The Plot: The story follows best-selling thriller novelist Alan Wake as he tries to uncover the mystery behind his wife's disappearance during a vacation in the small fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington, all while experiencing events from the plot in his latest novel, which he cannot remember writing, coming to life.

In its pacing and structure, Alan Wake is similar to a thriller television series, with episodes that contain plot twists and cliffhangers. The game itself consists of six episodes, and the storyline is continued by two special episodes, titled "The Signal" and "The Writer", that were made available as downloadable content (DLC) within the same year of the game's release. Together, they make the first season of a possibly longer story. Additionally, a six-episode live-action web series called Bright Falls acts as a prequel to the game, and a number of related books also expand upon the Alan Wake story.

Lets talk about the game: Alan Wake is described by Remedy as "the mind of a psychological thriller" and "the body of a cinematic action game" put together. In interviews, the game's creators hold that the game does not belong squarely in the survival horror video game genre.

The player controls the eponymous protagonist Alan Wake. In the game, a "darkness" is taking over humans, animals and objects. These enemies, dubbed the "Taken", are murderous shadows that attack Wake, wielding weapons of their own, ranging from.

The Taken are protected by a shield of darkness, initially rendering them impervious to attack; they can only be injured with a firearm after exposure to light, which burns the darkness away. This puts significant emphasis on flashlights in conjunction with conventional weapons, such as a revolver or shotgun. Flashlight beams act as a reticle.

The player is often encouraged to take advantage of environmental light sources and placing, and to use other light-based weapons and accessories, such as flare guns, hand-held flares and flashbangs.

So this game mixs survival with fantasy with reality with horror with suspense and so much more.

I would highly reecordmend playing this game.

Review by: Stacie Robinson
I couldn't put it down! It's definitely an action-packed thriller, with fantastic characters and exciting plot twists. I just had to know what was going to happen next! I love that is clean with no foul language or sexual content, but it is kinda creepy and becomes violent at times, so I'd save this for older children and adults as it'd probably be too scary for little ones. E.R. Fowles paints a vivid picture from start to finish, so it was almost like the movie was playing out in my mind as I read. It should totally be made into a movie someday! Stacie Robinson

Run From The Spaceships
War of the Worlds- is a good remake of the oringal, taking a different spin on it. Plus you have Tom Cruise running from spaceships which is a plus in my books.

The plot: Dockworker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) struggles to build a positive relationship with his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). When his ex-wife, Mary Ann (Miranda Otto), drops them off at Ferrier's house, it seems as though it will be just another tension-filled weekend. However, when electromagnetic pulses of lightning strike the area, the strange event turns out to be the beginning of an alien invasion, and Ferrier must now protect his children as they seek refuge.

Its a good sci-fi action thriller.
