They manage to give this iconic Disney villain many different layers and was played brilliantly by Angelina Jolie. The story was great and I enjoyed seeing the backstory of Maleficent. It gives so much weight to the sleeping beauty story we all know and you have more understanding and sympathy for the villain.
All parts of the cast were great and the CGi/special effects were great. It had to be since this movie is practically all special effects. The music was great and this is by far 1 of my favourite live action adaptations of a Disney movie so far.

And the environmental message was pretty clear: stop throwing rubbish in the sea, people!
So, we’ve seen the origin of Aquaman, and I feel we’ve been set up nicely for a follow up. I’ll be watching it.

I felt like there was no suspense whatsoever and that it was quite boring and lacked excitement. I just can’t put my finger on whether this is due to the film or because I know what’s going to happen. The characters too I felt were not the same as in the books and they seemed underdeveloped. And I have no idea why they decided to move the story to the US when it was set in London. Why change something unnecessarily?
Such a disappointment despite being based on a great book.

General tone of self-satisfied knowing stupidity; lazy jokes about Donald Trump, selfies, people texting dick pics, etc; much-too-late-to-the-party spoofing of the Guy Ritchie Holmes films from nearly ten years ago. I'll go and see just about anything but it took a sustained effort of will not to walk out of this film. 2018 may have departed but this film lingers on in its wake like the stench from rotting carrion. For pity's sake, avoid.

Otway93 (580 KP) rated Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) in Movies

From the opening moments, you already have a feeling that it's going to be a good film, but it just gets better as it progresses.
The stop-motion puppetry is superbly done, and I never thought it would be easy to capture such emotion with puppets. The voices (Mr and Mrs Fox provided by screen legends George Clooney and Meryl Streep) are superb, with George capturing the cheeky tone of Mr Fox and Meryl conveying love, anger and a whole other range of emotions perfectly!
One of the best Roald Dahl screen adaptations, in my opinion only beaten by the 1970s hit "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".
