Leaving Las Vegas (1995)

Nic Cage gives a career best performance as a man with nothing left to live for and decides to drink himself to death in Vegas where he meets an unlikely love interest played by Elizabeth Shue.
Cage's performance is both remarkable and believable and truly portrays a man ready to die at all cost, swigging a bottle of alcohol at all times, including just before he passes out at bedtime, we soon see his health deteriorate as Shue (although agreeing to allow him kill himself) struggle as she is forced to watch him fade away. Astounding and startling performances.

This is a typical american teen flick where a girl as a crush and hasn't kissed a boy before. Trouble is there is lots of errors such as drinking is not legal in the US until they are 21 and they are obviously teenagers but lots of alcohol fuelled parties. The boy is question was supposed to be several years older than the girl and yet they were in the same class at school and your mother was ill in hospital for several years and yet she had a younger brother. Some hunks for teenage girls to ogle over.

When I saw the subtitles by heart dropped and I thought I’d made a huge mistake. But what followed was something completely different, after a few minutes I didn’t even particularly notice that it was subtitled and just enjoyed the movie. It’s about 4 teachers who set out to research whether keeping your blood alcohol level above 0.5% can better your life. We follow them through the whole experiment where they find at first that it makes them more relaxed whilst also being more focused and improving their lives dramatically, to then seeing them when it becomes borderline alcoholism.
