๐๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ: ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ท๐ช๐ฆ. This does what it does fine enough but has been essentially rendered obsolete by even the weakest entry of the ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐๐ถ๐ฏ trilogy (2 1/2, btw). Surprisingly I think this works better as a crime film than a full-on comedy; it's just so damn atmospheric what with the fun-as-hell (very) 80s synth soundtrack, intriguing mystery, kicky cinematography and all - qualities that all the best crime thrillers of the era have. But the comedy is shockingly inconsistent, you'd think having Chase as essentially a mile-a-minute quip machine for his signature dry smugness would be shoe-in but the jokes work at about a 40/60 hit-to-miss ratio. Maybe a generous 50/50? And there's a fine line between deadpan and downright dull - speaking as a usual Chase defender I find this performance leans to the latter a little too much, there's just not a lot to value in it over the countless other renditions of this character out there. Also it's an automatic crime that a movie in which Chevy Chase dons a metric ton of comical disguises and fake identities actively chooses not to lean into his legendary physical comedy. He only does like one funny dance and one paltry pratfall... what the fuck is up with that? Somehow still a blast in what should be its mediocrity. Utter fluff, but it'll do.

A young woman, Sloane comes home for the holidays to see her critical family who always brings up that she's still single. Meanwhile a guy called Jackson is meeting the family of a crazy woman after just the second date. He walks out of their house when things get weird and uncomfortable.
Both Sloane and Jackson bump into each other whilst returning unwanted gifts in a longer than neccessary but pretty entertaining scene. They end up talking and hanging out at the mall, the idea of a holidate comes up which is something Sloanes aunty participates in in the holidays, meaning you get together with a random stranger specifically for a holiday, just a date with no commitments. Jackson gives sloane his number, at first she refuses to text him but after her mum tries to set her up with a guy she phones Jackson to arrange a no commitment holidate for new years. They get on well and have a good evening despite a dirty dancing inspired hilarious injury.
Fast forward to valentines, sloane is still dateless and once again bumps into Jackson who saves her from an awkward encounter with her ex. This is when they agree to be each others dates for every holiday.
As a lover of rom coms I really enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. Admittedly it was highly predictable but also highly entertaining, I howled with laughter multiple times.
Highly recommended.

This movie wasn't given enough credit. From start to finish I was pulled in and was on the edge of my seat.
When raven died I was in shock. But I'm the first X-Men movies she is alive and well in the future so this confused me and also what happened to jean at the end. Obviously, she was taken over by the Phoenix force and became a powerful cosmic being. Another thing was that Charles no longer is the head teacher of the Academy and again, in the future, still is. But I'm not complaining cause it was amazing anyway.
I will probably go to see it again soon because once won't be enough for me.

Just seen at my local cineworld was it worth waiting 15 months due to pandemic yes it was worth the wait its good to the mcu back when the marvel logo came up I cheered. anyway the film the film was amazing scarlett and Florence were exceptional especially Florence who's been good since fighting with my family 2 years ago plenty of good action scenes could have done with more taskmaster who was underused but wasn't expecting the reveal behind the mask at all. Overall good movie it's good to finally get the mcu back on the big screen also stay past the end credits for a extra scene

A very basic premise,anna is down on her luck but gets recruited into the KGB as an assassin.She completes various missions but the CIA are on to her and eventually catch her out.They make her work for them and so on and so on until she is eventually given her freedom.
This is the first decent Luc Besson film in years (he will never ever beat Leon).Sasha Luss impresses as anna,helen mirren is also good.I wasnt to impressed with the way the story switches backwards and forwards in time.
The restaurant fight scene was pretty impressive and very bloody.

Spin-off from Aliens in which I kinda get the impression they were released before Ali3n - definitely before Resurrection - as they're very much modeled on Aliens (that's the second one: the one with the 'S'). While, for spin-off novels, they're actually not that bad, they're also not going to win any awards for literature, or set the world on fire!
(edit: a little bit of background research shows exactly that: that the story was written after Aliens, but before Alien3: indeed, the release of that later movie necessitated some changes being made in how this was planned, replacing Newt with Billie andHicks with Wilks)

As a proud owner of yet another subscription service, the first thing I did was scroll through every movie to create a watchlist. Killer Instinct popped up, and seeing Robert Patrick... *presses play*.
Olive's life has taken an unexpected turn and she decides that a trip out of the city is just what she needs. Peace and tranquillity awaits in the odd home she finds online, but the even odder owner and goings on aren't entirely what she'd hoped for.
I seem to be picking films recently that remind me of other films, and Killer Instinct (also known as Tone Deaf) reminds me heavily of The Intruder from 2019 starring Dennis Quaid... with the slight difference that The Intruder was kind of watchable.
For a film under 90 minutes it feels significantly longer with nothing much happening. The whole idea that Harvey (Robert Patrick) is hatching this plan is poorly set up and once underway I didn't fully understand what the motivation was behind his character. As well as Intruder vibes, I was getting heavy Home Alone vibes too... you'll see.
There felt like two distinct sides to the cast, "serious" and "comedy". But the serious weren't, and neither were the comedy. The way everything was laced together felt like a sloppy attempt to merge Happy Death Day with a serious thriller.
As a lead character, Olive (Amanda Crew), doesn't feel massively likeable, and there seemed like there wasn't really any way to bring that to life as she was. Unengaging characters are also something that's happening more to me in recent film choices, and here, as with others, I found myself getting pulled out of the events of the film because of it.
I had hoped that Robert Patrick would offer some respite, but Harvey is equally... blah. There's no real explanation about why he is the way he is and it's introduced in such a strange way that his motivations are almost entirely obscured by it.
Killer Instinct tries very hard to be relevant and be a commentary on generational divides, but it's done by breaking the fourth wall and talking to the camera in a way that wasn't at all palatable. Each time it happened I frowned and instantly felt disengaged from the film. Combine that with the oddly comedic mother storyline and you get a film with a constant identity crisis.

The Fly is a excellent remake of the 1958 version. Cronenberg does it again. All of his 80's films are excellent. I mean the gore, the violence, the horror, the suspense, the thrills, the sci-fi, the visuals, the terror and the acting.
The Plot: When scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) completes his teleportation device, he decides to test its abilities on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a housefly slips in during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Initially, Brundle appears to have undergone a successful teleportation, but the fly's cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Brundle's girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster.
The Fly was critically acclaimed, with most praise going to Goldblum's performance and the special effects. Despite being a gory remake of a classic made by a controversial, non-mainstream director, the film was a commercial success, the biggest of Cronenberg's career, and was the top-grossing film in the United States for two weeks, earning a total domestic gross of $40,456,565.
Film critic Gene Siskel named The Fly as the tenth best film of 1986. In 1989, Premiere and American Film magazines both conducted independent polls of American film critics, directors and other such groups to determine the best films of the 1980s, and The Fly appeared on both lists.
In 2008, the American Film Institute distributed ballots to 1,500 directors, critics and other people associated with the film industry in order to determine the top ten American films in ten different genre categories. Cronenberg's version of The Fly was nominated under the science fiction category, although it did not make the top ten. It was also nominated for AFI's 100 Years... 100 Thrills and AFI's 100 Years...100 Passions and Veronica's warning to Tawny in the filmโ"Be afraid. Be very afraid."โwas nominated for AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes.
The quote "Be afraid. Be very afraid." was also used as the film's marketing tagline, and became so ingrained in popular culture (as itโand variantsโhave appeared in countless films and TV series) that a large number of people who are familiar with the phrase are unaware that it originated in The Fly.

Gremlins Take Over The Big Apple
Gremlins 2: The New Batch- is a good sequel. Its still has its dark humor, comedy, horror and of course many gremlins. And you cant not forgot about Hulk Hogan, yes you read that right Hulk Hogan is in this. And the horror legend and icon Christopher Lee is also in this.
The plot: The magical collectibles store that Gizmo calls home has just been destroyed, and the tiny monster finds his way into a newly erected skyscraper. Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his bride-to-be, Kate (Phoebe Cates), who have previously dealt with Gremlins run amok, discover that Gizmo and an impish legion of reptilian pals are inhabiting the downtown building. The couple tries to stop the creatures from escaping into New York City, but this new batch of beasts might be uncontrollable.
Like the first film, Gremlins 2: The New Batch is a live-action horror comedy film; however, Dante put effort into taking the sequel in new anarchistic directions. The film is meant to be more cartoon-like and less dark than the original, with slapstick violence, so the film received a PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). There are also a number of parodies of other films and stories, including Gremlins itself, the Rambo films, The Wizard of Oz, Marathon Man and The Phantom of the Opera.
Along with the main plot, there is animation by Chuck Jones in the film featuring the Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. Jones had actually quit animation before returning to work on Gremlins 2: The New Batch.Dante explained the animation at the beginning of the film was meant to "set the anarchic tone."
The first scene appears at the very beginning of the movie, and features the classic Looney Tunes opening card, causing people to assume it is the short cartoon that usually plays before a movie begins; however, when Bugs appears through the rings on top of the Warner Bros. shield, Daffy interrupts the intro, and steals the shield from Bugs. Daffy attempts to recreate the opening with himself in Bugs' place, but the shield overshoots, causing the entire title card to fall apart. Daffy surrenders the stardom, claiming that since he will not star in the cartoon, they might as well just skip straight to the movie. Bugs is willing to do so, and spins Daffy off screen like a spinning top for the movie title to appear.
The DVD and Blu-ray include a longer version of the cartoon short. In it, Daffy is informed by Bugs that he has been promoted to executive and is subsequently put in charge writing the title of the movie. When Daffy mistakenly writes the title Gremlins 2 as "Gremlin Stew", Bugs corrects the error. Daffy then attempts to rename the film The Return of Super-Daffy Meets Gremlins 2 Part 6: The Movie, but Bugs rejects this for being too long, changing it back to Gremlins 2 (rendered in the font of the official logo). Daffy then quits his new job and Bugs decides to add in the subtitle, saying it looks "a little skimpy". This material was removed from the film because early audiences expected a live-action film and were bewildered by the lengthy animated sequence.
