Lacking bite
I was expecting this to be a fun, tongue in cheek B movie creature feature. Unfortunately I think they tried too hard to make it a serious film. As a result it's not particularly funny, intentionally or otherwise. It's also too silly to take seriously. Really needed to go all out one way or the other. You'll forget it very quickly.

Cumberland (1142 KP) rated Once Upon A Deadpool (Deadpool 2 PG-13 Version) (2018) in Movies

Should have went straight to video
I really like Deadpool 2, and this is basically the same thing. It has been cleaned up a bit so they could make it PG13. They also added in a few new scenes.
The things they added were funny, and the changes didn't take away from the over all effect of the movie.
The main reason I am giving it such a low rating is because, it was completely unnecessary. I would have understand a PG13 DVD release, but a theater release is just over kill. I think this is just a money grab mixed with an attempt to keep Deadpool relevant why they work on the next movie.

Prepare to scream again...or not
I was pretty excited to see this movie, and by the end I was only mildly disappointed. This movie had a few twists that I thought were enjoyable. But ultimately the movie falls flat because the main twist was weak and didn't matter overall in the scream universe. Some of the acting was terrible, and I can't tell if it was intentional for some of the character traits or if it was legit bad acting. The practical effects in this were really good and actually looked believable. I also enjoyed the update in the horror movie troupes and the way they incorporated newer technology into the movie. Overall this movie will fall flat unfortunately but it does open up the universe for another sequel.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Clemency (2019) in Movies

Heavy
Clemency- is a heavy hitter meaning the subject of the movie is heavy. Its a sad movie, but also a good movie as well. Alfre Woodard does a excellent job in this film. Her performance is fantasic and phenomenal. Its sad that 1.no one has heard of this film, 2. No one has seen this film and 3. It got no nominations at the oscars.
The plot: Bernadine Williams is a prison warden who, over the years, has been drifting away from her husband while dutifully carrying out executions in a maximum security prison. When she strikes up a unique bond with death-row inmate Anthony Woods, a layer of emotional skin is peeled back, forcing Bernadine to confront the complex-and often contradictory-relationship between good intentions, unrequited desires, and what it means to be sanctioned to kill.
Like i said its a heavy hitter with drama and suspense. Go watch it, its on Hulu.

Spectator (9 KP) rated Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) in Movies

This movie really amazed and surprised me at how much I love this movie. It does a great job at balancing the humor and the seriousness throughout the film. Definitely fan service, but it’s used in a way where it’s in service of the plot and helps drive it forward.
It also made me like Tom Holland’s Peter/SM a whole lot more compared to the other two solo films he did. Peter has to actually face the consequences of his actions. This is easily Tom’s best performance as Peter Parker by far. And the villains were great (specifically Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro). I thought they did a good job at balancing the screen time for them and it didn’t feel like a cluster of a mess with too many characters. As a big Spider-Man fan, this really feels like a love letter to the character and it’s everything that I would want from a Spider-Man movie.

Kim Pook (101 KP) rated Dismissed (2017) in Movies

Surprisingly good
As soon as the movie started, I wasn't convinced as it looked very low budget and the camera work was shockingly bad. Despite Dylan Sprouse being in the poster for the movie, he is not the main focus in the beginning, it is a teacher but we do eventually learn why.
Lucas is a transfer student and joins the movie about 10 minutes in. He appears to be a very bright student, but upon talking to a fellow classmate he also has a very bad temper, which can only mean bad news for anyone who crosses him. He gets what he wants, even if he has to hurt or traumatise people in the process.... And that's just what he does to his teacher after giving him a B+ on his essy.
It starts off small like letting his car tyres down, but it spirals into much bigger things.
What started off looking like a shoddy movie, actually soon gained my interest and turned out to be pretty good.

Charlie Cobra Reviews (1840 KP) rated Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) in Movies

Unexpected and Inventive Mix of Drama and Zombie
Contains spoilers, click to show
This movie was surprisingly decent even with all the cheesy love drama and relationship plot mixed in from Pride and Prejudice. I liked the background for the alternate 19th century London and how it came to be full of zombies. I also really liked how the father of this family had his daughters train in Chinese martial arts and was more concerned with their immediate safety and how the mother was more concerned with them marrying. I was a little disappointed in how not all the sisters where featured prominently enough into the plot/story. I liked Lena Headey's character too but felt she was underutilized as well. The zombies in this movie were pretty unique. It said that they were zombies but they could still talk quite intelligently and also craved human brains and if they didn't eat brains then they wouldn't turn into full zombies. The full zombies were far more aggressive and faster. I also liked how the character Darcy was in charge of investigating possible zombie cases and wish they could have delved more into that part of the characters story. The action also surprised me for being a PG-13 movie there was quite a bit of blood and violence. There were some nice headshot scenes where the zombies heads were blown clean off their bodies. The fight scenes were pretty well choreographed and the girls kicked a lot more butt than most of the guys. Even the plot with the cheesy love triangle had me trying to guess which guy was going to get with which girl and kept the plot interesting enough inbetween the action. I give this movie a 6/10 and say it's an above average zombie movie.
