War Is Hell
For a movie about a pacifist, this one doesn't shy away from the gory horrors of war. Nonetheless though, this is a great movie. The set and the sound design and the whole production level in general is astonishing. Garfield shines here in the lead role and Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington are also great in their respective roles.

Well, since this is becoming a movie, I figured I'd give the book a whirl.
I hope the movie is better.
The characters were flat, shallow, boring, and I didn't feel one way or another about any of them. Also, which family was this book actually about? It seemed to flip at the very end.
Also, the happily ever after ending was bizarre and I don't think it worked at all. Thank god this was a short book.

Loved it
I really enjoyed this movie. There is a lot of dark humor, and action. It also had a fast pace that helped to keep it interesting. I hope they make a sequel in the same style.

A Fresh Take On A Classic Character
This movie has been polarizing and I can see why. Some of the creative decisions taken seem odd and feel slightly out of place is a monster movie blockbuster and more as if they belong in an indie art movie. Although I thought that for the most part these decisions worked in the movie's favour. Also, one thing is for sure, it's better than the last Godzilla movie that we got.

I was fortunate enough to see this at a theatre in Indianapolis the same day I saw Colossal. Both feature a sort of psychic link kind of thing. Made for an interesting double feature.

"Russ Meyer’s magnum opus is a singular, nonstop whirlwind of a movie—and proof positive that the style of a work can also be its substance. Meyer was one of cinema’s most meticulous craftsmen and also one of the most innovative editors of the twentieth century. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is a beautiful, visceral movie, and it’s so far ahead of its time that we’re still catching up with it. Nothing here is accidental. This is capital-A Art. Anyone who thinks this movie is “so bad it’s good” has no sense of taste or style and is probably bad in bed."

We are having a Law and Order movie day. I have select episodes of Law and Order. We are also going to watch The Lincoln Lawyer, A Few Good Men, and Michael Clayton. Might also add Puncture and 12 Angry Men to the list, as I’ve never seen them. Squee

This movie is based on the true life story of carley Allison (whom I'd never heard of until watching the movie) a teen figure skater who is faced with a rare form of throat cancer, but bravely stays positive and continues trying to achieve her dreams whilst also holding down a relationship.
The movie itself was OK, I did feel happy and also sad for her at times. But what was off putting was the constant narration and time jumps, I feel it would have been a better movie without all that and instead focus on the story itself.
I didn't find out until the credits rolled that the person who played carley in the movie, was real life carleys best friend. I found that absolutely amazing that she was able to do that.
