#Oceans8 is a safe #heist #movie that takes very little risks but offers plently of enjoyment all the same. I won't lie I enjoyed this #film way more than I expected I would, is it the perfect heist film? no, is it a well made film? also no but its enjoyable for what it is that's for sure. Here's what I liked - the performances are great & the characters are all very likable (each one has a distinct personality & the chemistry they have with each other is genuine & entertaining). All the #ladies look absolutely #stunning & the garments they all wear constantly amaze & add more to their character. Infact I'd goe as far as to say its mostly these things alone that carry the entire film & make it such a #fun watch. My attention was also held the entire time & I never felt bored either & there were even points where the film managed to be quite tense too. Things I really didnt like - its not filmed very well or very intrestingly at all & infact it borders on being quite basic/lazy at times with quick cuts abruptly rushing/killing some scenes, boring camera work & generic screen wipes are also thrown in a lot randomly too. There's also a distinct lack of #style, class, omph & glamour with most locations especially feeling forgettable & dull. #jamescorden its also incredibly miss cast & his performance doesnt seem to fit well with the rest of the films tone. Story wise its not that interesting either & after the heist the film does fall a bit flat. Luckily however these few good points do in this case make the film really worth a watch eg - getting to know the characters & watching them prepare & pull off the heist was entertaining/fun & at times tense. Costumes, probs & a couple of sets were a joy to look at. #Music was ok & worked well with what was happening on screen. Acting is brilliant & its really nice to see #sandrabullock back in a lead roll again & looking so #beautiful while she does it too. I went into this movie with few expectations and was pleasantly surprised that Melissa McCartney's character wasn't completely ridiculous and over-the-top. It was easy to feel empathy for this sympathetic character who returns to school to finish her archaeology degree as an adult-student following a big change in her life. Her daughter also attends the university and instead of the typical teenage response of angst and embarrassment, she obviously loves her mom and they have a great relationship. This movie is sweet and has heart. There are some silly situations, but most are benign. For the most part, I enjoyed this movie.
I would have given this a higher rating but took away a star for promoting dangerous practice.
I have a bit of a problem when it comes to the frat initiation scene because people are ignorant, i.e. the Bird Box challenges, and will attempt stupid feats they see in movies. The scene in question involves someone being spanked with a wooden paddle. Some may think it is a harmless prank, however, if attempted in real life by amateurs, it can cause real physical damage to a person, from kidney injuries, broken skin, and broken bones, and it should not be attempted at home. Especially not drunken revelers. Just the idea of pledging to a frat, sorority or team tends to make young people think of humiliating or painful acts to inflict upon others so anything that may encourage undeveloped minds to engage in hazing practices gets a thumbs down from me.
Otherwise, a fun movie.

Brad drives while Leo coughs: The Movie.
350. Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood. A movie that answers the big questions like: What is Brad Pitt's driving skills like? Or, what does Leonardo Dicaprio look like hacking up a lung? They will be answered because a large portion of this three hour long movie is dedicated to just that. Brad Pitt driving by himself listening to the popular tunes of the late 60's, Brad Pitt driving Leo around while Leo hacks up a lung from smoking and drinking, and Brad Pitt driving while flirting with one of the Manson girls he just happens to keep running into... OK with that out of the way, its a really cool movie, cool concept and of course great acting, writing and directing. Has the Tarantino signature, multiple separate storylines coming into one explosive finale... Basically its the story of a down on his luck actor, Rick Dalton, and his stunt double/bestie, Cliff Booth, and as I said earlier, Cliff drives a lot because his bestie Rick has racked up quite a few DUI's so... and at the same time... we have Rick's new neighbors on Cielo Drive, the Polanski's, Sharon Tate coming into her own stardom and enjoying life, and we also have Cliff's solo driving adventures where he picks up a Manson girl hitching and meets the rest of the family on the ranch, all leading up to the events of August 9, 1969. A pretty sweet ride, I think its the least violent of all Tarantino's movies, but don't worry there's a bit of bloodiness thrown in to make you say, 'there it is'! Filmbufftim on FB

Marvel does Mystical Martial Arts
Marvel (the film branch) is mainly known for its superhero movies.
We've had Origin stories (upon origin story upon origins story ...)
We've had 'fish out of water' comedies (see: Thor)
We've had outright sci-fi/sci-fantasy (see: Guardians of the Galaxy)
We've had political thrillers (see: Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
We've had team-up (see: The Avengers)
We've had crime capers (See: Ant-man)
Up until now, we've had no Martial Arts movies (sorry, Netflix's 'Iron Fist': you don't count as a movie).
We've also had no movies with a mainly Asian cast. Until now.
This also brings back the 10 Rings organisation (first name-dropped all the way back in 2008's 'Iron Man'), with the plot outline of the movie actually quite different than what I expected - lots of Martial Arts sequences (the fight on the bamboo scaffolding is a high-light), the usual Marvel musings on family, and one or two character inclusions that I wasn't expecting (but really should have been) ...

Creed II (2018) boxes clever but it's clear the franchise won't make a 10 count...
Conspicuously more formulaic than the first movie, “Creed II” does at least have the distinction of being a sequel to two different movies at the same time, picking up not only the story from “Creed” but also “Rocky IV”. Thematically, it riffs harder on the idea of legacy and fatherhood, forcing both Adonis and Rocky himself to confront their father and son issues respectively...

Not as predictable as first thought
This book was good for what it was, a love story of two teenagers fighting for their lives. Although i truely loved the book and will most likely also see the movie, i cant help but to think that the book lacked something, i eagerly awaited something spectacular and it had me longing. Maybe more depth to the characters? Not sure. Either way, i believe im a hard critic and to give it an 8 rating is still an achievement.

There are roles that feel like they were written for the actor. The main character feels like he was written for Matt Damon. I did read the book first and it was easy to picture Matt Damon as a witty braniac botanist. Probably because at the end of the day that's just who he is.
This movie is about a man's surviving, not only the untamed dessert wasteland that makes Mars, but also the crippling aloness of being the only human for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Jump scares! So many of them! I love being scared so this film was great. I didn't think it made sense as a follow on from the first movie though. Thriller to paranormal horror is a massive jump but it kind of worked. I was more interested in the scares anyway so I didnt think about the links. They also added to Brahms' back story to make him more interesting I guess and it worked to an extent. Could have done better but I enjoyed it anyway!

Spider-Man: Far From Home was amazing! Great follow up to not only Homecoming, but also Endgame. Can't really say too much about the movie itself as I don't want to give any spoilers, but great story. Loving Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing as always as Mysterio. I'll tell you what's not a mystery, that you should get to your friendly neighborhood theater to see Far From Home. Oh, and definitely hang around for a couple of key post credit scenes.
