Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Angels and Arrows in Books

First off let me say paranormal romance usually is not my thing. Now that being said I really enjoyed [Reyna Hawk's] [Angels & Arrows] because it was not a typical paranormal romance. Yes that was part of it but there was cultural history and excitement as well. None of the "Oh woe is me my vampire boyfriend left me I am going to curl up and die." Maria is a fighter. A bit of a pessimist but really a fighter. It takes a bit for her to learn to trust and have faith but when she does evil spirits better watch out.
ArecRain (8 KP) rated Angels & Alphas (Angelbound Origins #1) (Alpha Girl #1) in Books

I am not a fan of YA, but Angels & Alphas seemed to be one of the better ones. The females were strong without being obnoxious (or mean like some authors think they need to be) and there was no love triangle (rejoice!). The world was fleshed out nicely even though the authors really did not introduce anything new. I appreciate that the novel was set in Purgatory.
Overall, the stories were nothing new and seemed like ones that we have read over and over, However, they were done much better than the majority of novels I have read similar to them.

I have no personal experience of Alzheimer's but Moore's portrayal of an intelligent woman losing her words, forgetting where rooms are in her own home and even not recognising one of her daughters was utterly heartbreaking.
I believe there could've been a far better ending than Kirsten Stewart's character reading a monologue from a play. I am completely unfamiliar with the play "Angels in America" and to me it seemed like they only chucked that in to get the line "Nothing's lost for ever" in. After an intense and unsettling ride through the movie the ending certainly let it down.

Charlie's Angels is a sometimes entertaining, but mostly boring spy film. It has a talented cast for sure, but a screenplay that leaves a lot to be desired, and a lot of the jokes fall flat.
Female empowerment absolutely has a place in action cinema, a genre that is completely outbalanced in terms of gender roles, but the film as a whole zones in on it so much, that everything around it feels secondary, and as a result, the finished product is a drag.
Also, John Bosley is a villain now for reasons apparently, and I'm sad about it.
