Wonder why it's such a hit.
After seeing Wonder Woman in what was the best part of the Batman/Superman movie, I was all pumped to see her in her own film. Unfortunately, DC is just not very good with superhero movies. And Wonder Woman is no exception. People were somehow blown away by Wonder Woman & I strain my brain trying to think why. It is boring. Very boring. So boring I was wishing that Superman would appear to fight Batman in the movie. Yes, that boring. I found myself not caring for anyone in the movie, WW included. Although she was great in the role, the character itself was uninteresting. Hell, we don't even see Wonder Woman until an hour into the movie & then it's a 2 minute action scene. Granted, that 2 minutes in awesome, but I can watch that on Youtube, and I would even put up with the 1 minute Youtube commercial just to see it. But the main problem of the movie is the story. The villain & his plot, which I couldn't remember what it was about if I wanted to. A very forgetful climax scene & we got a total mess.

Indie Horror that kicks Mainstreams Ass
Going in to an indie film. I kinda hold my breath for the possibility that it could suck big time.
But, with this movie I was shockingly surprised with what transpired here.
Knowing a head of time the outcome of this film, because I have big mouthed friends, i was able to breathe comfortably and enjoy this movie.
It got right in to the death and disturbing story. It got all gross and disturbing just how I like them.
The only thing that truly bothered me about this movie is the incestual storyline that, while it made sense to the overall outcome of the film, it kind of put a damper on the last 30 minutes of the movie.
Incestual characters have been a staple in horror. From the Sawyers to the Wrong Turn mountain men. All of which provided amazing franchise horror movies.
The fact that this movie almost beats to death that Dollface is the product of incest is kind of annoying.
But all in all, this movie is fun, gross, disturbing and ultra cool.
All praise indie films folks, without them there would be almost no good horror films to view for sickening individuals such as myself.

The Citizen Kane of horror westerns
First of all, any time a movie combines two of my favorite things, in this case, a western and Kurt Russell, you have a recipe for success.

Certainly not for the squeamish or faint of heart, the horribly awesome brutality in this film rivals any I have seen in my life and that's saying a lot.

The plot is your basic four men set out to find and rescue several townspeople who have been kidnapped by horrible cave-dwelling "Indians" who no one seems to know anything about. Along the way, they have to face the elements of the weather, their own injuries and the eminent threat of encountering the ferocious beats that they are always on edge.

Patrick Wilson, Richard Jenkins and Matthew Fox are all also wonderful as the men who set off with Russell on their rescue quest.

For what the movie sets out to do, it succeeds wholeheartedly. Thoroughly engaging throughout, I was glued to my seat the entire time and the 135 minute runtime goes by in a flash.

In reading about it afterwards, it is unbelievable to me the movie was shot in only 21 days and for only $1.8 million.

Who says creativity is dead in Hollywood? Just takes great writing. I'd watch this before Iron Man 12 anytime.

Disclaimer: I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The second in the Immortal Love series, this portion continues after the first and is told from Claudia's perspective, in the form of a story to Eva about how Claudia and Marcus Letrell met and ended up together. Starting in the late 1800s, there's plenty of information to grab you, from the idea of house servants to help you dress to a wealthy suitor asking for your hand to improve your station in life. Plus, there's vampires and all the crazy things that happen with them. =)

As I've said before, Amy is one of my favorite authors, and this series is just plain awesome. We get to learn about the Letrell brothers from their companion's perspective, and that's something that really pulls me in. In this book, we read about Claudia's life before Marcus entered it, and how she came to find out about him and his family. Over the course of her story, she tells how she became a vampire and what happened to her in the decades that followed. It's a rather moving story, one that had my emotions on a roller coaster from start to finish.

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys vampires, paranormal romance, strong female characters, or who just wants to read a good book. =)

Dr. Gray is basically a genius, having obtained a professorship by the age of 23. However, his intelligence is about to be put to the ultimate test as an old friend of the family drags him into one of the strangest occurrences he could ever imagine. All but one member of a family who were the sole inhabitants of a small town in West Virginia have vanished without a trace, and the military has been tasked with the who/what/why and how of the situation. Soon, Gray will find himself travelling the globe in search for answers, trying to protect himself and the mission along the way. Just what caused the disappearance, and why is it happening again?

This book was definitely interesting, and I never wanted to put it down. It was fresh and unlike anything I'd read before, and I was hooked from the start. Gray is a fun character to read about, as he's one of those immensely-intelligent individuals who doesn't really work well in the social arena, but his leaps and bounds regarding the issues of the case at hand were astounding. I've always been interested in the Tunguska event, and this just helped fuel the fire to find out what really happened. Awesome story!

Thank you Joe for sending me this beautiful book!

First of all - this book is AWESOME. The character of Suzy is described so perfectly well, and it fits her role and it reminds me of myself so much, that I was laughing at scenes in the book where I probably shouldn't.

The scenes are amazing. This book takes you to an incredible adventure in time and space, introducing a new world, different than the one you are used to, and it takes you all the way in - leaving you breathless until the last page.

It is a story where Suzy kills her uncle and she's not wanted on Earth. But soon she finds out that her father has been killed, and he has created something that endangers the whole universe. With a great motive behind her, she is determined to find that little something and save the world? Or is she?

With the great help of many others that she is not sure whether they're trustworthy until the very end, she goes into this adventure, ready to lose it all, just for a very strong motive of unconditional love - even if it means her death.

Definitely a must read for every single person that loves fantasy, mystery, adventure, romance, thriller. It is all well put into this incredible book.

Halloween (2007)
Halloween (2007)

A successful re-imagining but turned up to 11!
When I first heard director Rob Zombie was going to have a hand at Halloween, I couldn't have been more excited. His films up to that point had been intense, scary, gruesome, gothic, sexual and down-rite awesome!

This reinvention had big shoes to fill since the original Halloween is not only a scary movie classic, but invented or perfected a lot of horror elements still used in films today.

The additions to the story proved successful seeing a lot more scenes of Michael as a child, his dysfunctional family roots (which could have been part of his inner demons) and more details around his escape from the psychiatric hospital. Then the original story plays out as you are familiar; although, more intense and evil.

The third act does seem to drag out just a bit as the movie is around 2 hours in length.

Great to see a lot of "B" movie actors appear in the film including Malcolm McDowell, Clint Howard, Brad Dourif, Dee Wallace and Richard Lynch. Also Danielle Harris who was the little girl in parts 4 & 5 is also there as another homage.

Overall, a successful reboot with enough mixture of old and new to keep me very well entertained.

Bitchin'
Season 3 of Stranger Things (much like season 2), takes a little while to take off.
Not only that, but there's a good handful of different story threads running at once, in different locations, that at one point, I was starting to feel that it may not land as well as it had done in the past.
Turns out, I really had nothing to worry about.

The overall narrative may feel splayed at times, but by the end, it all feels pretty slick, as Hawkins once again finds itself siezed from an otherworldly threat.

The cast shine as expected, with the usual suspects now experiencing the ups and downs of being a teenager, and the adult characters, having to deal with said teenagers.
It makes for a nice comedic and emotional dynamic, whilst exploring some nice story arcs.

Billy gets more to do this season which I personally found awesome, and I really enjoyed the unexpected connection's he had with certain characters.

The effects are looking better than ever, especially in the breathtaking final episode, but the whole season has some really striking visuals throughout.

This third season continues to remind why Stranger Things is ahead of the pack when it comes to this kind of television.
I'm already (im)patiently waiting for season 4!
