Intense!
I was anticipating this show since it was announced as I was in a show slump after binge-watching Breaking Bad in the fall of 2014. This series reminds me, in a way, of BB. They both have main characters who are upstanding citizens and eventually over the course of the series, strips away the veneer of civility to reach their not so noble core, and possibly downright rotten, core.

Bloodline is much more of a family drama than Breaking Bad though. It explores all those familial ties and how they can be strained or broken, especially as siblings jockey for position for standing with their parents--even well into adulthood.

I am looking forward to the next one in the series. [One is Come] by [C.H. MacLean] is a wonderful mix of magic, adventure and lore. The characters suffer from the typical teenage angst that is common everywhere and similar growing pains. The difference is the issue of puberty brings with it a secret that normal kids don't deal with.

The only people around the kids that can understand are their parents who have taken an oath not to speak of the magic. The conflicting powers fighting for control over the kids and their gift leads to more intrigue. I am still not sure who is good and who is bad, or even if there is a good or bad. Any book that has magic and dragons is always a good bet.

I recently watched the first Bad Lieutenant film, not sure if this is a sequel of sorts or not? It is no where near as dramatic as the first, but I actually prefer this version as it has a bit more structure to it and less random. Cage plays a cop who may do bad things but often it is a means to an end. He has a drug problem, gambling and is walking a fine line on being the wrong side of the law. Can he redeem himself when a family of 5 is killed in a drug shooting. This is an enjoyable film, Cage's performance does get a bit trippy at times. Overall it's a entertaining film with a good story if not anything ground breaking.

I don't get the hate - this was a fun popcorn flick.
I'll admit, I watched this movie basically because of all the hate it was getting on social media. I thought "It really can't be that bad, can it?" And I was right. It really wasn't that bad.

Now, if you're looking for an original storyline, insightful social commentary that hasn't been done three hundred times before, or acting that'll blow you away - well, why the sweet Hades were you watching a Netflix movie starring Will Smith and ORCS for heaven's sake?

However, if you were wanting a fun popcorn flick that required no thinking, but gave you cheesy-lines and lots of action, this was almost perfect. It really just depends on what you're expecting from it going in.

Tomb Raider (2018)
2018 | Action, Adventure
Bog-standard action runaround is lifted enormously by proper, non-pneumatic performance from Alicia Vikander as Crofty. Feisty heiress goes in search of missing dad, ends up on desert island with hissable bad guys and tomb; soon there is much running down collapsing corridors and many death-defying leaps.

Vikander keeps it real and plays Croft as a proper human being, and is the main - probably only - reason to watch an otherwise undistinguished film. Bad guys are dull, good guys too; special effects are okay but nothing really special. I suppose it's somewhat notable for the way it keeps the audience guessing about what genre it's going for. Still, much more fun than watching either of the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies, but then so is sawing off your own feet.

Bad
This movie was hard to get through. It's a revenge movie that takes place in the eighties(ok), was made within the last year(it's 2018!), but everything about it screams 70s. The acting(so bad), cinematography, the storyline. Even the animated sequences. It had some violent scenes that looked straight out of a 70s movie as well. I don't expect perfection, but it's 2018, even a low budget film can be done well. They tried to use lighting effects to make it seem more "visual", but again, felt straight out of a 70s flick. The soundtrack was decent enough... for a 70s horror film. Anyway, I guess I just expect(hope for?) better from a movie these days. Sorry, this inne is not worth a watch.

River of darkness is just bad, not even one of those movies that are so bad that their good, this movie was just an absolute disaster from the beginning, I have no idea what the director or producer were thinking, they shoulda just stopped to save face but they didn't.

When this movie dropped I was drawn to it as fan impact wrestling fka TNA which starred their talent (at the time) I remember paying £10 for this crud and regretting it (although I've since bought it again for £1- nostalgia I guess)

If you wanna try it out either pay cheap or maybe its on YouTube?

Had a great plot idea but the budget must have been zilch.

I won this book from Smashbomb and was looking forward to reading it, but reviews I've read were lackluster so I wasn't expecting much. The author is a preschool teacher and I have found that teachers, whether preschool, college, or anywhere in between don't make the best authors. They tend to find themselves too clever and make bad decisions with their plotlines. This book was pure drudgery and I had to force myself to keep reading it, hating every moment of it. I finally decided that life is too short to read books I'm not enjoying and gave myself permission to stop reading and throw the book in the trash. It's that bad. I could not in good faith pass this book on to someone else. It's just awful.

Waste of time
You know when a film goes straight to Netflix that it’s going to be potentially ropy, but A.M.I is an all new level of terrible even for Netflix.

The idea of this film, i.e. a phone AI encouraging someone to kill, isn’t a bad one, it has just been so poorly executed that there really isn’t anything to like about this film. The acting is awful, the script is terrible, and the soundtrack is just bizarre and ill fitting with the entire film. The horror aspect is fairly decent but it’s a shame it’s completely bonkers and weirdly ill placed. It’s one of those films that’s so bad it’s probably worth watching out of interest, but you’ll immediately regret it at the end. Absolutely bonkers and not in a good way.

A powerful story of two sisters
The Last Confession of Autumn Casterly hooked me from the first chapter. The sisters Ivy and Autumn lost their mother to cancer three years ago, and their father has remarried. Ivy is a nerd girl band geek and Autumn is the “bad girl”, dealing drugs and getting into trouble. They barely communicate, but when Autumn is kidnapped, Ivy knows something is very wrong and does not give up on Autumn despite others assuming that Autumn’s disappearance is just due to her own bad behavior. This book is a well written thriller with excellent characters, and skillfully explores the bond between the sisters, friendships, and families. The author also examines how girls’ lives are valued less than those of boys. It was hard to put down and thought provoking.
