ClareR (5874 KP) rated Norse Mythology in Books
Jun 14, 2019
A short and sweet book, but I would have been happy to read more! These are very human Gods: Thor seems rather challenged in the brain department, and Loki is the annoying child at the party (or anywhere!).
This is the complete opposite to the Marvel movies (neither a good or bad thing), and I feel it's more faithful to the original myths (go figure!). Thoroughly recommended!

Autumn (3 KP) rated All Together Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #7) in Books
Jan 19, 2018
i jumped into this series at book 3. not many important spoilers. but then i jumped from book 3 to this one. BAD idea. HUGE spoiler. it's kind of ruined the beginning of the series for me. instead of enjoying the storyline and going with the flow i'm analyzing character actions.
besides the disappointment of knowing too much, it was still entertaining, though not my favorite.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Taken 2 (2012) in Movies
Feb 11, 2018
A very enjoyable sequel with plenty of action. It's missing a certain something second time round though, maybe the detective work to track his daughter down added more suspense in the first. Good to see the daughter and ex-wife have larger roles this time though. Unfortunately though I got a bad feeling there could be a 3rd, which really would stretch the franchise too far.

Fran Donohoe (856 KP) rated Lady Bird (2017) in Movies
Mar 1, 2018
I never got why films like this (and 3 billboards) get nominated for Oscars ,while not a bad film it's very slow in parts where nothing much happens , it's billed as a comedy yet I didn't laugh once but i chuckled here and there , Ronan gives an average to be fair performance in a very forgettable film

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated The 5th Horseman (Women's Murder Club, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The women's murder club take on two cases. The first involves either murder or medical malpractice at a hospital. The second involves murdered women being left in expensive cars. Both were good stories, although the climax was so bad it killed much of the enjoyment for me.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated Sidekicks in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When a superhero decides to get a new sidekick, his pets want in on the act. And that's not quite as bad an idea as it sounds.
This graphic novel is fun, and middle school students will enjoy it. Heck, I enjoyed it, and I'm an adult.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated Secret Santa in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Four Christmas novels - two romance, one mystery, and one chick lit. I bought it for Laura Levine's mystery novella featuring her sleuth Jaine Austen. I loved it as always. Two of the other stories were enjoyable, but Fern Michaels's contribution was just plain bad on all fronts.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated A Peach of a Murder (A Fresh-Baked Mystery, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The annual peach festival is coming and Phyllis is hoping she can finally beat her friend and roommate in the backing festival. However, she gets distracted when some murders start happening. I didn't like the characters, the plot was bad, and the writing was distracting.

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated The Last Summer of Ordinary Times in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This book was interesting. But it was a bit creepy. I did enjoy it though. It something different. If you enjoy the story about Christianity. Then this a book for you. I was a little creepy out by it but not horribly. I am not starting it a bad book. I did like it but I it gave me a bit of strange dreams.
