A bit of a personal eye-opener!
This isn’t my usual type of book at all, but I’m glad I read it - very entertaining and fast paced. It did require a bit of concentration with all of the intrigue, back story, twists and turns, but I think I ‘got it’ in the end! I can’t say as I’ve ever really read a book based on espionage before, but thanks to The Pigeonhole (again!) I tried it and I liked it.

Good enough to make me buy the book!
I'm not a big fan of "movie before the book" honestly. I prefer to read about it first because I feel that the book is generally better with all of the detail it provides. That and movies have a horrible way of butchering the plot.
I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this movie. It reminded me of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" with it's need of the main character, Simon, to fit in and find his own space in the world. I loved the journey he took, and I was actually so interested that I bought the book this movie was based off of! I haven't read it get, but based on the fact that I liked the movie, I have pretty high hopes.

Life in a high-rise tower falls into chaos after frequent power outages create a clash between the classes. The film was based upon the book by the same name by JG Ballard. There were obvious differences from book to movie, but the changes made sense. Tom Hiddleston did a good job as Laing, and Luke Evans was savage as Wilder. The score of the film set the perfect tone, and Portishead's cover of SOS was on point.

This collection of short stories with has a interesting twist in that they are all based on traditional ballads. I really enjoyed the variety and the dark twist on all of them. Some of my favorites were "Driving Jenny Home" and "John Barleycorn Must Die". As a person who loves Irish and Scottish folk music these stories gave me a new perspective on the music I listen too.
I will be recommending book. Especially to my friends with literature and music degrees.

Best Book to date

You have to read the book. Its based on a girl who moves to salem and has to figure out why people are dying and whether they are linked to the trials or not. She also falls in love and plot twist she is the thing her distant relative hated most. Tells a different side the the witch trials.
I was very impressed with this book when I read it the first time round and again when we did it with the book group. I think it is based on a true story about a boy and his mother being trapped in one room in a bunker with no means of escape or so they think at the time. with a lot of cunning and effort they eventually manage to escape the room and return to a normal lifestyle or as normal as possible.
