Kayla (5 KP) rated A Bad Day For Voodoo in Books

I adore this book. It's a fantastically quirky mix of horror and comedy. Totally nuts, in the way only Jeff Strand can be. If you're the demented type of person I am, who thinks body parts falling of is kinda funny, you'll love this book.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Wilder Girls in Books
Dec 30, 2019
I received a copy of Wilder Girls from Random House Children's through Netgalley.
This book is horrible and gorgeous. Such strong elements of body horror and passion.
I loved every minute of this book and even more delighted with how very gay it all is.

Ross (3282 KP) rated Captain Marvel: The Death of Captain Marvel in Books

Hard hitting book
An uncharacteristically sombre and serious graphic novel. This book tells the demise of Captain Marvel as cancer ravages his body, despite the universe's scientists trying to find a solution. Very touching book at times, albeit with a dated narrative style and tone.

When Jenny Diski died, I knew I had to read another one of her books. Read more about her and this non-fiction "travel" book from 2006 in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2016/07/17/travels-for-the-mind-or-for-the-body/

Oh wow, this book was so good. I laughed, I cried, and I was creeped out. Awesome nostalgia but I do have to warn for some body horror involving tapeworms.
Not to be too spoilery but you may not want to eat while reading this one.

An instant classic!
I love these ladies and all that they do. They remind me so much of how it felt playing D&D; the classic fantasy, the shinnanigans, all presented in some lovely, whimsical and crisp artwork and strong (mind, body and spirit) leading ladies
