Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2185 KP) rated The Mystery of the Uninvited Guest (Trixie Belden #17) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Trixie's counsin is in town for a visit, but Trixie is distracted by the wheelchair that appears and disappears along Glen Road. Meanwhile, a woman no one knows is trying to get invited to the wedding of Jim's cousin. While one sub-plot falls flat, I enjoy this great mystery that uses all the characters well and actually keeps them in character. A great start to the second half of the series.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2185 KP) rated Nate the Great and the Crunchy Christmas in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Annie’s dog Fang hires Nate to find the Christmas card his mother always sends him. It’s a week late, and Fang looks forward to it all year. (Or so Annie claims). Can Nate find it?
This is a fun entry in the series with a dash of humor (especially when Rosamand appears), and decent clues that a kid or adult could use to solve the case along with Nate. Not that I did, of course.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2185 KP) rated Murphy's Law (Molly Murphy Mysteries, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Molly Murphy flees for her life from her native Ireland and winds up on Ellis Island for the opening day in 1901. The luck of the Irish evades her, however, when someone dies while they are on the island and Molly stands accused of the crime. The set up, while necessary, slows the beginning down. However this is still a good series opener to a character I now love.

Lindsay (1717 KP) rated Grace (Sisters of the Heart, #4) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
I do not really now how I feel about this book. Though I can feel about being afraid of something or for the Mel and Katie in their situation. But I did learned that you do need to let your burrens to the lord and let me guide you and do has is will. I have hoping and praying that he will bring that person to me as well. I do hope you read this series if you have not I would and then again either way I hope you enjoy it.

Holy hell. I made myself read this slowly because I knew how much it would hurt. I was not disappointed. Cassandra Clare did an outstanding job in tearing my heart to shreads. Thank you for the pain. I can proudly say that I cried a lot because of this book. This was a beautiful end to a magnificent series. I am glad to have been a part of Clary and her friends' journeys. Thank you again, Cassandra Clare, for giving us readers such an amazing world to disappear into.
Erika (17788 KP) rated Red Rising in Books

I had been wanting to read this book since it came out. Well, and since Buzzfeed did an article about how attractive Pierce Brown happens to be.
The first few chapters in, I wanted to give up. The beginning was extremely predictable, and I was wondering when Katniss Everdeen was going to show up.
I'm glad I kept going, because I became completely enthralled with the story. It was intricate and complex. Darrow himself is complex, makes mistakes, and learns, finally, character development. I can't wait to read the next novel in the series.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Cat Got Your Diamonds (Kitty Couture Mystery #1) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
Cat Got Your Diamonds is an excellent start to the new Kitty Couture Mystery series. Lacy is funny, clever heroine, and I really enjoyed reading about her exploits. After encountering an intruder in her shop after hours, Lacy goes to get the police only to return with them and find the intruder dead. Finding herself suspected of murder, Lacy does just what we would expect of her. She decides to investigate.
With a great sense of humor and an interesting supporting cast, animal lovers, cozy lovers, and just about anyone else should love this book.

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Dream Nights with the CEO in Books
Feb 13, 2018
Well it wasn't a bad read but the story wasn't great. They dream the same dreams thanks to a haunted b & b, he swoops in to save her like a superhero spandex, cape and all. *rolls eyeballs* its not a bad read but I was pleased to have it finished so I could read something else. I would read other books by this author but if the dream series is going to be anything like this book i'm going to give it a miss. I'd give it 2.5 stars
Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Claiming His Pregnant Princess in Books
Feb 13, 2018
Dr Princess Beatrice di Jesolo leaves the man she loves (Jamie Coutts) in favor of the man her family wants her to marry. She leaves him on her wedding day and hides in Italy working at a trauma centre but little did she know that Jamie is also working there. The Spark between then is soon ignited again and little does Jamie know of the extra surprise Beatrice is keeping hidden.
An enjoyable, well-written, super sweet second chance romance and the second book in the Italian royals series.

David McK (3396 KP) rated Praetorian (Eagle, #11) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
The newest entry (and book # 11) in Simon Scarrow's Cato and Macro series which, in a change from setting, sees the two characters back in Rome proper and getting embroiled in the politics of Rome (undercover in the Praetorian Guard) rather than in the battles with the Legions.
I found this particular novel to be a return to form after the last couple of books - while they were enjoyable, they were in danger of becoming a bit 'samey'. Further prrof that a change is as good as a rest!
