Anne (15117 KP) rated A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes #2) in Books

I have mixed feelings about this book because of what's happening in the story. It's a very intense book with a lot of emotion and action and everything going on and I was caught off guard by quite a few things in this one.
I can't wait to find out what happens next!
If you haven't checked out this series, you should, but be warned, it's going to be a rollercoaster for you and your emotions. Also you'll likely have some book hangover issues after reading this series especially this book

A disappointing continuation of the series
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, which I've been reading as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription, even if certain elements felt a little predictable.
The second book didn't have quite the same level of excitement and tension as the first, but was still enough to hook a reader and kept with "The Haunted" theme of the series.
With this third book, any "haunting" element has really been pushed into the background and I don't feel that the story is quite as compelling in this latest installment. I also read some reviews of the second book after I finished it, and one in particular mentioned the lack of variety in the swearing - and now that I'm aware of it, it REALLY started to bother me.
I know I'm going to go ahead and read the next book in the series, at least. Hopefully this will be return to the more exiting themes of the earlier books

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
The book club has decided it's time for their second adventure. They have the addition of a new member to get to know as well. When and where will the snapdragon inns magical mystery book club take them this time?
This is the second book of the magical mystery book club series and yet again it's another series by Elizabeth that I absolutely am obsessed with. She has a way of involving you in the story so that you feel you are there and solve the mystery with them. She is so talented I think its great that she makes a reference to the destiny falls series (the book that Paige is reading) it's a real personal touch and I found myself grinning as I read that bit.
Elizabeth has produced another gripping series and yet again I cannot wait for the next instalment. Thank you, Elizabeth.

I adore this series
This author is amazing to write as well as she does the banter, friendship, romance and action in this series. I pretty much adore the entire team and that last couple of pages! Hahahaha! Brilliant!
I need book 5 like NOW

Leah (: (569 KP) rated Talented (Talented Saga, #1) in Books

I first read this book and most of the series years ago before it became popular. Before long I was hooked and had binge read all the available books!!
The book follows Talia as she graduates school and lands her dream job. Throughout the story you learn more about the Talented and the world they live in, from Talia’s perspective.
I found Talia to be a very relatable character, particularly as she has a temper which often gets her in trouble. It was also very easy to empathise with Talia and the struggles she faced in the book.
The book is part of a series so there are still many unanswered questions by the end.
I would definitely recommend this book series especially if you like dystopian books.
