Mystery fail due to film media
Sometimes book to film adaptations work sometimes there a disaster this fell in the in-between. Whilst the film followed the story premise it wasn't that captivating and I think the reasons because it it doesn't work as well in the film medium. In the book the first accident is heightened and where all left guessing the events but are that much more involved because we know what she shouts before the accident we wonder why she shouts it int he film they cant do that because you would see what responsible. I dont think it was the film makers fault just that the suspense that made the book just doesn't transfer over. I mean as a teenager chick flick its okay but the books is deep powerful and meaningful and enraptures you in this mystery of teenage life and leaves you wondering the meaning why she yell what she does. Being a huge fan of the book and I'm glad I read the book first by the way, I was quite disappointed with what was missed out in the film and 'changes' they had made to suit to film. Nevertheless overall I dont think they did too bad a job, Glenn Close was definitely as easy to despise as her character is in the book I think she did a sound job. In fact the entire cast did very well in their character roles. If you are thinking of watching this then I would recommend reading the book first, as I am not convinced the book would be picked up had you watched the film first. Also if you want to know what happened to the survivors, not being satisfied with the ending, check out the book 'The Boy on the Bridge'.

Lacks the punch of the book
The book about this is one of the most enthralling and haunting books I’ve ever read, and I was really hoping the film would be just as good, but sadly it falls a little short. And I know I shouldn’t compare film to book, but that’s pretty much impossible.
Don’t get me wrong, the film is quite good. It’s has great performances from Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller, with an unusually creepy soundtrack and in general it’s a very bleak and dark film. It does well to get across the main parts of the book, but the main problem for me is that it doesn’t include anywhere near enough detail from the book. It covers the bare minimum, but i feel like it misses out a lot of the detail. I know a film can never include everything from a book, but for me this was missing a lot, especially about some of Kevin’s crimes and dark deeds. This is probably a case of reading the book ruining the film, I’ll admit I maybe should have watched the film first!

I was fortunate enough to see an early screening of this film thanks to lions gate world kindness day.
I had read the book of this when it was first published and couldn't wait to see the film however I was worried that the two media wouldn't be compatible. The book the image of auggie author is in ypur own head by his own physical description where as film you had that image implanted there for you.
The film itself is an ultimate feel good the writer directors and actors have obviously all though about the message of the book and conveyed it the best way they could. If you are looking for a feel good movie that makes you want to be kinder then this is most defibelty the film for you .
