Life for Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), is going well. He has a loving
wife (Tessa Thompson), and daughter (Mile Davis-Kent), and has retired
from boxing after defeating an old rival and ensuring his legacy.

Creed spends his time with his family and developing young fighters at his
gym and is prepping the current champion for his next big match against
Viktor Drago.

An unexpected figure from Creed’s past arrives in the form of Damian
Anderson (Jonathan Majors), a friend of Creed’s troubled youth has
just completed eighteen years in prison.

Damian was the current Golden Gloves champion when he was arrested and
believes he is due his title shot and Creed is the one who can make it
happen.

Creed tries to teach his friend that a person without a single professional fight does not get a magical title shot and with his large
the gap from the ring he would need to grind it out to get a shot.

When an incident occurs just before a scheduled fight and without any
established fighters available to make the date of the fight, Creed gives
his friend a shot and sees that his brutal style of boxing is not what he
would endorse.

Upon winning the title Damian lets it go to his head and gloats at how Creed
had the life he should have had and blames Creed for his past issues and
for not visiting him or staying in contact.

Naturally, this puts the two former friends on a path of no return with a
climatic boxing match being the solution.

“Creed III” does not have the benefit of Sylvester Stallone but you can
still get whips of his character’s influence on Creed and Jordan does a
very solid job Directing the film. He produces strong character moments
which help define the struggles and motivations that each of them faces and
the boxing sequences are very engaging and will have you cheering along.

Majors does a great job in what could have been a routine bad guy
performance. He gives Damian a drive and purpose but also shows the path
that Creed could easily have followed had fate not gone as it did and how
watching someone get everything you dreamed of while you are in prison can
turn even the best of a man cold and bitter.

The film satisfies from start to finish and the character moments and
boxing blend to make not only a very enjoyable film but one that shows
that there is plenty of life in the franchise.

When the much despised CC de Poitiers dies on Boxing Day, Chief Inspector Gamache returns to Three Pines to solve the crime. I found the first part of the book very slow and hard to get into. It did get more interesting in the second half, but I'm not sure how excited I am to continue the series.

Eastwood plays the grizzled veteran boxing coach and Hilary Swank as the determined wanna be that he keeps at arms length somewhat similar to the Karate Kid.
He finally relents and they become very close as she improves and the journey to greatness begins, it's an engrossing story well told and has the ability to tap into a range of emotions as it unfolds, and if you have a dry eye at the end then check your pulse, you may be dead!

I was a huge fan of the original. The live action remake is faithful, maybe too faithful especially given the director is bare knuckle boxing fan Guy Ritchie. Will Smith is good as Genie. He carries the comedy and romance well. The actress playing Jasmine is a revelation especially in her big solo. My only complaint which is not about the film just a preference is they should have taken a risk and turned the musical numbers into full Bollywood productions.

Feels a move away from the Rocky films
No knockout blow
A decent Boxing film, wasn't a big fan of the 2nd film so hoped this was better. The fight scenes are well choreographed but overall the film is too predictable and following the old formula of the Rocky films. Despite this feeling a move away as Stallone is not in this one. Entertaining but maybe time to throw the towel in for the Creed franchise.

Can a robot fight as well as a person?
Contains spoilers, click to show
Set in the near future Real Steel is the comeback story of a washed-up boxer, who's only inspiration is is estranged son.

Former boxer Charlie Kenton has had to move with the times as traditional boxing has been replaced by the mega-sport of Robot Boxing and Charlie isn't very good at moving with the times. But when his ex-wife dies and he gains custody of his estranged son, Max, who he's never met, the adventure of a lifetime begins.

Charlie must juggle is meager on-the-road, always look for a new robot and a new fight lifestyle, with looking after an 11-year-old child. But when a freak accident leads Charlie and Max to an old sparring bot, Max is determined to get it running again. Once fixed up the pair find that the bot, named Atom, they discover it has a very rare feature, a mode that will literally let it copy the moves of a user in real time.

Starting in the underground fighting leagues, Atom rapidly rises through the ranks until it is noticed by the Robot Fighting League and offered an official fight. Whilst fighting and winning in the official league, Max sets his sights for Atom on an undefeated mega-robot, much to Charlie's distress.

This is the story of a boy reconnecting with the father he never knew though the one thing they have in common, Robot Boxing. Through the destruction and crashing metal come some heart-wrenching emotional scenes.

Look out for some interesting product placement and a very unusual statue outside the final arena.

10/10

Local Philadelphia retired boxing legend Rocky Balboa is persuaded by up and coming young protege and son to his former adversary and friend, Apollo Creed, to reenter the ring this time as a trainer to mentor the young man. Everyone is Rocky's life has left him at this point so he is alone working at a successful restaurant. After some hesitation, Rocky agrees to take on the training challenge.

Creed initially has desire to make a name for himself on his own terms trying to disown his father's legacy. When it is discovered who he truly is, he is forced to embrace his family's tradition in order to secure an important early fight in his career.

The film hit all the generic plot points for a movies like this with n huge surprises, but that is not a complaint. The characters are well written and the dialogue seems genuine. It's great to see Stallone resurrect the role that made him a star in 1976 with a freshness which is exuded while he takes on his new pupil.

It;s hard to believe so much time has passed since we have seen Rocky and how his life has changed in the process. He seems like a broken man having outlived all the people which meant most to him in his life.

The boxing scenes are well put together and grounded in reality having some real professionals onscreen like famous sportscasters and boxing personalities.

You are never bored while watching and thoroughly entertained by the training montages.

Movie Favorite

"I saw Rust And Bone. It’s about a woman who is a whale trainer, and she loves to go dancing: she loves to go to the club. And the other main character is really into boxing, and he has a son that he doesn’t take care of, but then he has to. It’s hard to feel empathy for either character in the beginning. There are some really intense plot twists. She eventually loses her legs. They become good friends. I won’t say anymore, but it was amazing."

A classic game for all ages!
A classic game that came with the Nintendo Wii console. You can play Baseball, Boxing, Bowling, Golf and Tennis. You can play between 2-4 players. There are also various training modes and a fitness multi-game challenge. It's so simple to play whether you are a kid or an Oap, everyone enjoys it. I still play it around my mums when I visit. The fact it uses your Mii characters you create as well makes it more fun.
