Adam Sandler has been pretty prolific recently thanks to a contract with Netflix. This most recent film involves a team up with long time collaborator Chris Rock as fathers of the bride and groom, respectively.

Obviously, based on the actor choice, this is a comedy. So the question is: Is it funny? Answer: YES! It actually is. Frankly, I've been pretty down on Sandler recently, but he still has some decent jokes to pull out. I laughed out loud hard about 5 times and chuckled or smiled quite a bit throughout.

The film was very well acted and the big scene between Sandler and his daughter is particularly touching.

It's not a masterpiece, but a decent Netflix only film.

As if being railroaded into playing wedding planner / mail of honor for her co-worker Vanessa isn’t enough to worry about, Maggie also gets volunteered to put the bride-to-be’s cousin up at her family’s B&B. This seems ok at first, but before long Ginger starts showing her true colors, and someone decides to do her in just days before the wedding is scheduled to take place. After finding Ginger’s dead body, Maggie adds finding a murderer to her ever-growing to-do list.

This was a fun mystery with a great setting - I'll be watching for the next in the series.

NOTE: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy.

1984. I was all of 5.

I think I first saw this in the later 80s,round about Primary 5 or 6 or thereabouts.

I've been traumatised by the swamp of despair and what happened to Artrax ever since.

Framed as a story within a story (see also: 'The Princess Bride'), this follows Bastian who takes refuge in a bookstore when he is chased by bullies: a bookstore in which he encounters the book 'The Neverending Story': a book in which the land of Fantasia is threatened by the nothingness and which seemingly talks directly to him as he reads it whilst hiding in a school attic.

Maybe a bit dated now, but for its time? Enjoyable enough.

Wickedly good fun
This was definitely on my radar after seeing a trailer a few weeks ago. A slightly oddball horror/comedy film as a new bride has to play a game as part of a tradition with the new family. This is no normal game of Hide and seek! It reminded me a bit of @You're Next (2013) but with more of a funny side. Simple premise but done very well. Samara Weaving is definitely one to watch out for, also very good in @The Babysitter (2017) If you want a fun, quirky horror film in the build up to Halloween this is worth a watch.
