EmersonRose (320 KP) rated Saga in Books
Nov 20, 2019
I have not read a lot of comics. I did get very into Valerian and Laureline and the new Labyrinth comic, but both I got into because of already being a fan of the story from the movie versions. Getting into this media, both of my brother (avid comic book readers) each suggested some comics for me. My younger brother suggested saga. I really enjoyed reading it. I found the story, style, voice, magic, and characters to all work great. I will continue reading this series soon!

Cori June (3033 KP) rated The Forty Thieves: Marjana's Tale in Books
Mar 5, 2020
It is a retelling of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves in Marjana's POV. and stays mostly with the original source material. This is a good kid's book for ages 9 and up. It does talk about slavery as both Marjana and her brother are slaves of Ali Baba's brother, and the Islam religion so it is slightly correct in its set/historic time period. It doesn't get in your face religious just lets you know it's there and helps set the cultural tone.

Lindsay (1706 KP) rated Death Never Sleeps in Books
Sep 6, 2017
This is a really good book. It has all kinds of twist and turns. I enjoyed the fact that it has an element of mystery in the book. It has murders in it. It also has some adventures. How can a dead person give answers and help out his own brother from the grave? Is Michael's brother Alex alive or dead? You get swept up with this question and so many more. Alex actually communicates with his brother. Michael wants to help solve the mystery of his older brother's murder.
Why does someone want Michael and his whole family dead? Why does this person want to have them all dead? Why did this person want Alex dead? Alex seems to be able to communicate with his brother and talk to him like he is alive? The plot is good. The places that Samantha and Michael visits start to get more enjoyable to read. The adventures starts to happen once they go on trips. Is death like that where you can be anywhere and communicate with family friends only if you are in a virtual world that could be connected to a world before technology and a world after technology?

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Brother [Audiobook] in Books
Aug 13, 2023
I haven't read or listened to anything by N.V. Peacock before but the synopsis sounded like something right up my street and whilst I wasn't blown away, I did enjoy listening to The Brother and will look out for more from this author in the future.
The book is written from the points of view of Fallon, a psychologist who has survived a traumatic event, and The Brother, a serial killer who uses a unique way of finding his victims.
It's a twisty and compelling story that is told at a steady pace and I loved the intrigue surrounding who the brother was.
I really enjoyed listening to this book and whilst, at first, I found the male narrator talked a bit slow for my liking, I quickly realised, as the story progressed, that he was absolutely perfect and by the end I loved him as he added a lot of intensity and creepiness which added to the overall feel of this book.
Overall, a really enjoyable listen and my thanks go to Bolinda Audio and NetGalley for enabling me to listen to and share my thoughts of The Brother.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Dark Soul Vol. 3 (Dark Soul, #3) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
Contains spoilers, click to show
2.5 stars.
Dark Lady I: 3 star
Dark Lady II: 4 star
Dark Brother: 1 star
Dark Lady I, I was equally annoyed that I had to read about Silvio having sex with someone else and fascinated about the way he went about it all.
Dark Lady II, I really enjoyed because, hopeless romantic that I am, it was about Silvio and Stefano and them getting closer.
Dark Brother, well, I know Silvio's a little strange in his sex life, but really?
Your own brother? What the hell?! I didn't even read it, just skipped to the next morning
I must admit that though this was my least favourite volume so far that I am still intrigued and wanting some sort of happy ending for these two so I will continue reading to see how it all plays out.

Dean (6925 KP) rated The Dreamers (2003) in Movies
Dec 9, 2018
A very unusual film. Quite erotic as an American student in Paris strikes up a relationship ship with a Brother and sister during the backdrop of student riots in '68. A quirky coming of age tale.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Dating Dead Men in Books
Mar 9, 2018
A call from her brother sends Wollie off on a wild ride while she's in the middle of a dating project and trying to help her greeting card store take off. Has her brother really witnessed a murder? Or is it his paranoid schizorenia acting up again? A twisty novel with great characters. Just pay attention at the beginning because a lot is thrown at you quickly.
