Lindsay (1706 KP) rated The Promise of Palm Grove (Amish Brides of Pinecraft, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
The Promise of Palm Grove by Shelley Shepard Gray This book it really a good book. Though I did not finish it completely. I did read most of the book. I liked the fact it somewhat different then other amish book. Edmund is a little bully and wants his own way.Leona has been doubting herself about her marriage or engagement to Edmund. She does not know how to tell her friends about it. On the first day in Florida they meet up with Zachary and his friends Danny. They are trying to catch a cat for his neighbor. The girls follow and see them all laughing. The cat goes over to Leona. She able to pick up the cat. Things start to get some action and friendships. Does Leona break it up with Edmund or does she stay with him? Leona must decide to choose her path for a future she wants or what god wants of her.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Curse of the Cat People (1944) in Movies
Jun 4, 2020
Odd, dreamy follow-up to Cat People; not really a sequel in the conventional sense at all, barely qualifies as a horror movie, either. Picks up the story a few years later; the couple from the original film are now married with a child, who has a problematically rich fantasy life. Given a 'wishing ring' by a lonely old woman, she wishes for a friend - and what appears to be the ghost of her father's first wife (Irena the Cat Woman) materialises...
Much, much gentler than it might sound; there's virtually no reference to Irena's supposedly cursed blood (she turns into a cat in moments of passion), the 'curse' mentioned in the title is the shadow her death still casts over the family. But here Irena seems entirely benign and the story is about the relationship between parents and a child struggling to fit in. Nicely made and performed, but very hard to categorise.

Merissa (11805 KP) rated Flirting With Fire (A Witch’s Night Out #1) in Books
May 8, 2023
In the first of the Witch's Night Out series of novellas, we meet Cat and Leo - familiar and warlock. Cat has eighteen months left on her contract which transferred to Leo upon the death of his aunt. The only trouble is Leo doesn't realise that he is a warlock so can't say the incantation which allows Cat to become human and leave the house.
In a short novella, there is a lot of information and humour. I loved the Draco Malfoy references for a start, but there are plenty to choose from. In some respects, it is a slow burner (pun intended) until they meet for their blind date and then things heat up.
For a short but extremely sexy, quick-witted and humorous story, I can definitely recommend this.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Not just for cat lovers
A rather beautiful tale about a Persian blue that gets thrown out of his home by his family and embarks on an adventure to save not just his family but a ton of cats trapped in his old home!

Erika (17788 KP) rated Instagram in Apps
Apr 7, 2018
The only reason I have an instagram is to look at cute cat pictures. The app is not perfect, sometimes it's out of order, and I almost always accidentally hit the camera because it's exactly where the home button is on my phone. Overall, sufficient.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Read and Buried: A Lighthouse Library Mystery in Books
Dec 31, 2019
I received a copy of Read and Buried from Crooked Lane Books in exchange for an honest review.
In all honesty, I wasn't really thrilled with the mystery and I didn't really feel a connection to Lucy.
I really did enjoy Charles the Cat, though!

Erika (17788 KP) rated Captain Marvel, Volume 2: Down in Books
Feb 24, 2018 (Updated Feb 24, 2018)
Another good Captain Marvel volume. I absolutely love the art in this particular volume. Issue 9 is by far my favorite, when she's just carrying around Chewie (her cat), doing Captain Marvel stuff. I also always like when Monica shows up in a Captain Marvel comic.
