I've read the Pet Sematary Book (by Stephen King) and it's an absolute page turner so I was really excited to see this Remake. However, the whole thing fell flat for me. It wasn't remotely scary or interesting, even. It was just bland and made you feel a bit "meh" about the whole thing. Such a shame as the Book is excellent.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2269 KP) rated Gone but Not Furgotten in Books
Aug 17, 2022 (Updated Aug 17, 2022)
This book can almost be divided into two parts. Unfortunately, the first half is rather weak. While a few threads of the mystery are set up, the focus is on rescuing the cats. Meanwhile, some of the characters, including Maddie, over react to what they find. Yes, the situation was bad, but their reactions were over the top. However, the book gets stronger in the second half as the mystery becomes front and center. There are some good twists and a logical solution even if a few pieces set up early don’t seem to quite be paid off. Also, a bit of character development is rushed. I do see that I’m in the minority in my reaction to this book, so if you are a fan of the series, give it a chance. But if you haven’t started it yet, try some of the earlier books before jumping in to this one.

One character I loved was July's cat Yolo due to them being a cat and cats are awesome. I also liked them because they were always cracking me up and made the story even better. Some characters I disliked are Sam, Alex and Ella. I don't like Sam because of what he did to July. I didn't like Alex because he liked her one minute than couple days later he's all of a sudden over her. I didn't like them being together at the jump in the end breaking July's heart. It made me mad for her. Also in my opinion cliff jumping is stupid, dangerous, and it's not worth it. I definitely recommend reading this book. I give it a five out of five stars. I also recommend reading the authors trilogy Matched it's one of my favorites.

Merissa (12339 KP) rated Mist Revealed (Elemental Desire #1) in Books

With a fast-paced storyline, you are drawn into the world of Mist and Smoke, with Norse Gods, Fire Demons and Wardens. With a cast of fantastic characters, both good and bad, this story will sweep you away and leave you wanting more. As this is the first story, you do get the history part of the story too, which you need, but it is done in such a way that you don't mind and, in fact, want to know more.
A brilliant start to the series, and I can't wait to read more. Highly recommended.
