I went to see this movie with some of our family for our yearly cinema get together. I have to say, I was extremely impressed with the film. I admit, I was a little nervous as I have heard quite a lot of bad things about it, but surprise surprise, it was actually pretty good!

Plenty of the usual action packed scenes, although some of them did feel you leave you feeling a bit dizzy. It was nice to see the characters again and there is plenty of comedy aspects as well, such as the little penguin trying to growl like chewbacca and also a few comedy comments that are made.

One of the things that was mentioned about the film was about the poor CGI, I would have to disagree with that, as I felt that it did go with the film, the little penguins and also the sparkley frozen foxes where incredible and to me, it felt like it added a little something to it. I must say that I am not a fan of the CGI, however, when it is done well, I can appreciate it and this is the case in this film.

The only bad point I would say is that Chewbacca seems to have become very slim and not as heavily built as he has been in the past, I think that this is a let down as it makes him look a bit odd, out of proportion. I'm not sure though that it might just be me, but he didn't look right.

Throught the film, it leaves you feeling on edge, some of the scenes such as when Rey and Kylo are fighting, leave you gasping. Is there still a chance that he will not go over fully to the Darkside...we will see.

Id definitely recommend this film. It's incredible and I look forward to the next installment.

It's fun.
If you go in to this movie thinking that it'll be a great movie you're going to be disappointed. What you need to do is to go into this movie thinking it's going to be solid four out of ten. It'll turn out that you actually ended up enjoying yourself. There were moments where I literally cringed.

That being said, I laughed during this movie. A lot. There were some great funny parts! Some really cool new sets and action scenes as well. I was also happy because I don't think that they made Han a flat character.

"It made a huge impression on me as a kid and I still have all my little action figures. In fact, my mom was too cheap to buy me the actual Star Wars case to hold them all in, so I have a case, but it’s called “Star World” and it has all these knock-off characters — like, there’s a Darth Vader who’s all in black, but just not quite the same. And there’s a hairy character who’s sort of like Chewbacca, but not — which is probably a collectors’ item when I think about it because they would never get away with that now. There’d be copyright infringements."

Sneak Preview on Monday: Solo obvious but fun
Don’t expect any revelations in Solo, it is very much a story we have already heard but in greater detail. You will see how Han met Chewbacca, how he made the kessel run in 12 parsecs and of course how he wins the Falcon from Lando. Donald Glover stands out as Lando mimicking Billy Dee Williams mannerisms and voice. Paul Bettany excels as the main villain, but keep an eye out for an old foe to make a cameo.

No end credit scene so no need to stick around...

Collecting issues 7-12 of Marvel's new run of Star Wars tales, like issues 1-6 this is set between the events of the original (later subtitled A New Hope) and The Empire Strikes Back, and again follows the exploits of Luke and Artoo (with a brief interlude back to Ben Kenobi's days hiding out on Tattoine) alongside those of Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia (plus another newly-introduced character with connections to Han's past).

Of the two main series that I have read - these, and Darth Vader - I have to say, I found these to be the more enjoyable, the more action-packed, the more to give me the 'feel' of a Star Wars film.

Ridin' Solo
Solo: A Star Wars Story- is better than Rogue Story by a lot. Its more fun, entertaining, action, adventure, thrilling, and more.

The plot: Young Han Solo finds adventure when he joins forces with a gang of galactic smugglers and a 190-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca. Indebted to the gangster Dryden Vos, the crew devises a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal a batch of valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the suave owner of the perfect vessel for the dangerous mission -- the Millennium Falcon.

I like Aldren Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson was good, Paul Bettany was excellent as the villian and Donald Glover was good as Lando.

Like i said this is 10x better than rogue one. Its a good movie.

Flagship entry in Marvel's take-over of the Star Wars comics, this is set between the events of 'A New Hope' and 'The Empire Strikes Back' and, I have to say, is also a pretty enjoyable read!

It probably helps, of course, that the opening panels start with the iconic crawl, before moving to an expanse of space, with a spaceship then passing overhead - as close, in short, as you can get to the opening of the films in comic form! It also helps that all the main character - Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, C3PO and R2D2 all make a return, all looking pretty much as they did on the screen back then

OK, it's not perfect, with the reveal of Han's secret past (in particular) for me falling a bit flat, and with the story losing it's pace after the somewhat spectacular early pyrotechnics, but if this is anything to go on? We're in good hands.

Take a classic Space Opera saga (Star Wars), add a soupcon of horror (Aliens), and a large dose of Zombies (Resident Evil), and what do you have?

This book.

The plot? An Imperial prison barge breaks down, and then comes across a seemingly abandoned Star Destroyer out in the wastes of space. It transpires that the Destroyer is not abandoned after all, and that it had been carrying out bio-weapon experiments ...

Definitely felt like the author was (heavily) inspired by the Resident Evil games/films: the Zombies are such not as the living dead back-to-life of Romero, but as a result of a engineered virus. The Aliens link I mentioned comes in on the 'set-on-prison-<s>planet</s>barge' setting, and I'm also not entirely sure why he felt the need to drop Han Solo and Chewbacca into the mix, unless that was just so you would know it is a Star Wars novel?

Not the best Extended Universe book.

By far, Rebels is the best thing to come out of the Disney takeover of Star Wars (sorry, not sorry Mandalorian). Dave Filoni knows what he's doing, since he obviously learned from the Master.
This art book is around 200 pages, and filled with beautiful art. I knew that some of the design choices were taken from Ralph McQuarrie's original artwork, i.e. Zeb being a form of Chewbacca and the thinner lightsaber design, and I was glad a lot of that was incorportated in.
Maybe I was expecting too much? I wanted more commentary and insight. There were some pretty big omissions, and it was a bummer. I really want to know more about Jacen, and there was no mention of him (boo). Hopefully that means he's going to appear in something else?
Overall, I'm glad I purchased it, and now I want all of the art books, including the prequel costuming one that costs almost $1k.
