Dean (6927 KP) rated Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle (2004) in Movies
Jul 13, 2018
I quite enjoy films about a totally weird string of events that occur during a road trip or one wild night like this. This reminded me of After hours crossed with Dude where's my car? A stoner comedy that has a bit of something for most people and a good chemistry between the leads. It has a few good cast cameos too. Funny enough for a watch, not sure about being a classic. Oh and over here (UK) it's called Harold and Kumar get the munchies!

This film is HILARIOUS!!
I swear i was so ready to hate this. Im not a fan of jack black or The Rock, but the kids wanted to see it and I’m a huge Dr Who fan so gave it a go in support of Karen Gillan.
I was proved so wrong!! I dont want to give away anything but it is just so funny! A modern take on a classic movie with loads if genuine LOL moments ??

I picked up this book a few years ago, solely because of the beautiful and creepy Penguin Deluxe Classic edition cover. I was not disappointed, the book was also creepy beautiful.
The town described in this book reminded me of the small village my grandmother lives in, to include the bizarre mob-mentality. The atmosphere invoked is creepy and intriguing. You're left wondering until the very end what exactly happened, and the things left unsaid are telling. Overall, a terrifyingly excellent book that I plan on rereading.

Way too serious!
If you liked the original George Lucas classic, you may not like its very serious sequel.
Instead of cruising having a good time with your friends before you are off to college, the main characters deal with issues like the Vietnam war, protests and the peace movement.
The music is still great and there is a very funny cameo scene; however, it is not enough to save this film which just gets the tone completely wrong.

I was amazed at this movie.
The story was just ok
The acting was great
Action was great
But what go me to liking this movie was the style. The technical side is what got me. Camera shot were great. Shooting this as a movie from the 70s great. They even brought in the beginning credits like movies prior to the 80s. If it was not for how clean cut the shots were i would have thought this was a cult classic from the 70s.

Becs (244 KP) rated The Merchant of Venice in Books

I love William Shakespeare and every one of his plays but The Merchant of Venice was a difficult play for me to get into. I felt like the plot was all over the place but I pushed through it to finish the book. It had its good scenes and its bad ones, most books and plays do.
Would I reread The Merchant of Venice again, probably not.
Is it a good play, it's definitely worth the read because of it being a literary classic.
